The Daily Show

I am going, but haven’t given this much thought yet. Plans have been to leave work early, bike over to St. Paul, lock up near the Cathedral and then walk. Hope that works.

I have tickets for September 2nd. I’ll be in downtown all day anyway so I’ll just walk over.

Well, I work in Saint Paul, so no problems. I can walk over from our lot. But Mrs. Lungs can’t come, and I may have another commitment in Minneapolis for an RNC event that night.

I work across the street, so no problem. Unless the protest that afternoon keeps me from being able to cross. Or they lock down our building, or something.

Me and two co-workers are going on Tuesday. I had an extra ticket, but I think it has been taken. But stay tuned…

I’m going on the 4th. We are driving to a friend’s who lives near DT St. Paul and taking a cab over to the theatre. I think we said 2:00 arrival.

Going Tuesday, will just use my parking garage access across the street. Or walk from home. It won’t matter. We don’t know what time yet.

I’m going Tuesday. Good times ahead. Thinking of parking on the North side of 94 and walking across from there.

I wish Stephen Colbert was here. He’s much better.

Stewart goes for the cheap, obvious laughs.

You’ve already told us that.

I think the exact opposite is true. Colbert’s schtick is getting a little tired, and I’m really wondering what’s going to happen to his show if a Dem gets into the white house. It’s not as funny when you’re taking jabs at the underdog.

Thinking of parking on the North side of 94 and walking across from there.

Good luck. They’ve moved some parking up around the Capitol from downtown and there isn’t that much to begin with. The public Capitol lots will still be open, I think.

Bix, we can park in my husband’s ramp on Kellogg. He’s got contract parking.

Rat: Jon Stewart = grunt tv guy?

Score!

I’m going on Tuesday unless I get into semis in the ACME contest AND they take place on Tuesday.

Anyone want to take a gander at the first day’s guest? I saw T-Paw.

T-Paw is guest hosting at ACME?

The 50, 94 and 16 go past the History Theater every day, and will continue to during the convention (assuming they can get down Cedar w/ the protesters). I’d suggest, if you are going to drive, park up near the University McDonalds and take the bus in. Street parking in that area is free and plentiful (at least on a normal day.)

Oh, and then jump on the bus. If you walk up to Rice Street it is only $.50 each way for Downtown Zone. Or you can bike in easily from there.

grunt tv guy?

No. I just think it’s kinda disconcerting how many people actually follow him to get their news.

In 2004 I remember talking with friends in Canada who brought him up. They could see as soon as he was brought up, I was drawing a blank. “You never heard of Jon Stewart?”

I had, but I couldn’t place him.

I can now, because, you know, I’m kind of a hipster.

No. I just think it’s kinda disconcerting how many people actually follow him to get their news.

What is even more scary is that the content is equal in facts and amount of news as the regular news is.

I’m there (w/ S4xton).

Some breaking T-Paw veepwatch news.

Word is Old Navy is going to try to steal away some of O’s thunder tonight by naming his VP for the primetime news. Stay tuned…

He should name Hillary. Then we could all go crazy.

The Rat brings on the funny! Go, Rat, go!

He should name Hillary. Then we could all go crazy.

OMG. Now this thread is getting fun…

If anybody has any extra tickets I’m looking for three!

Rat, According to research at IU, The Daily Show is just as informative as traditional news outlets.

Just because someone finds a way to make something fun, doesn’t mean it lacks substance.

Word is Old Navy is going to try to steal away some of O’s thunder tonight by naming his VP for the primetime news. Stay tuned…

You mean McSame lied this morning when he said no decision on VP has been made?

I suspect that a move like that would just make them look pathetic. Just like his presser the night this spring when Obama clinched the nomination.

swandog has never been more correct. Stewart has the same level content and newsy correctness as any other TV news source, but it’s in a tastier package. it doesn’t have to be drab to be informative. It’s the medium, dummy.

y’all know how much I dislike (waiting in) lines (insert bj & krugerand comment here), so I’m out for the Daily Show but if someone has a hair-helmet and wants to use my ID to pose as me next Thursday, just ask.

I’m hip to ya’ grote.

Wanna hang out?

Has anyone seen the Canadian equivalent of the Daily Show. I tried watching it several times in Canada but apparently missed a great deal of the jokes because I only listen to CBC occasionally. Then those nice Canadians at the Comedy Networked aired Colbert and Stewart after that, I assume they did that just for me.

Oh, Canada.

Has anyone seen the Canadian equivalent of the Daily Show.

Is that the one hosted by Don Cherry? or was it Tom Green?

Here’s another cry out for extra tickets.

I’m going on Wednesday. I was thinking of parking by the capitol but I think it will be along University and busing in the last leg. I gots me a bus pass. I was thinking of arriving a tad after 3. I’m bringing a book.

Does the light rail run to St Paul yet?

I know it says what time to get in line…but does anyone know what time the actual taping starts or how long it lasts?

According to research at IU, The Daily Show is just as informative as traditional news outlets.

Why is it that Indiana University always gets the last word?

Wait..

So The Rat is a hipster and mnblrklr is using a study from IU to bolster his arguments?

Something is wrong here.

This was the message I received from the Audience Team after they had a typo in the last message.

Please arrive by 4:30, and sorry for any confusion. Remember, we overbook to ensure capacity, so do arrive early–we recommend an hour to an hour an a half.

Best,

-The Audience Team

I’m guessing that shooting will start at 5:15-5:30 and only take about an hour.

I had to turn my two tickets for Tuesday in today. Boo to that.

Okay, I’m sitting on 4 tickets for Tuesday, so if you and two other friends of yours want to hang in line with me, let me know. Also, help me find the quickest way to get to the show using some sort of transport(s).

I just learned about this and went to the daily show website to reserve tickets, it appears that it’s all sold out, not really a surprise I guess. Anyways, does anybody have 2 tickets they don’t need? If you help me out I’ll buy you ANYTHING on the dollar menu, real talk.

Wait, Bixby are those tickets still available?

No, suddenly the world makes sense! The Rat is hip in his own strange, cranky old man way. I mean, he does live in NE Mpls….And IU tops the nation in basketball, sex research, and surveys.

I could say I owe all of my accumulated hipness to my time at MNSpeak, but it wouldn’t be true.

I’m looking for a single ticket, can anyone do that for me? It’d be much appreciated.

this askin for extra tickets thing is probably gettin old… but here it goes!
I just found out about the tapings and would be much obliged if someone knew of 2 tickets that have become available!
