Was there any better premise to a TV show than MacGyver? (except maybe MacGruber)

No.

I can blow up a building with a 5-lb. bag of flour. Thanks, MacGyver!

Chalk up another win for the internet

This might be my favorite:
“MacGyver uses a pulley system fashioned from torn fabric, baling wire, and toy car wheels to assist a small dog in crossing a busy road.”

The craziest thing about MacGyver is that all those stories are 100% true.

Good luck taking pictures in public.

What WAS the premise of MacGyver? I never saw it, but have heard the references to his ingenuity. I assume he solved crimes.

He never used guns!

Jane, you ask an obvious, but good question.
I think he was a secret agent of some sort. Sort of like Steve Austin, but with a bionic brain instead of a bionic body.

He was actually more of an NGO operative. Classic bleeding-heart pro-gun control liberal. Always lookin’ out for kids and poor people.

If you know what’s good for you, you’ll go add Season 3, Disc 1 to your netflix queue right now and watch the Ghost Ship episode this weekend.

I submit to you Quantum Leap…

I used to love when Bakula ended up as a woman. Oh good times with MacG and Quantum Leap.

Those were my faves too.

I love me some Bakula…hott with 2 “T’s”

I used to love when Bakula ended up as a woman

um, er…..

I submit to you Quantum Leap…

Hear, hear. Great show! And let’s not forget Dean Stockwell.
Dean Stockwell is a neglected American treasure!

I used to love when Bakula ended up as a woman.

That was good, but I think by far my favorite was when he escaped from a trash compactor on a boat to show up, covered in garbage, to stop a wedding and steal the bride.

What does Ziggy have to say about this thread?

Adam, I added that one to my queue. Won’t get it until next week, as I have Superbad, The Counterfeiters, and Hustle, Season 1 disc 1 in house now.

You all lost me with your Bakula and Ziggy (?!) references, but I look forward to learning about this and more! TV is good.

Hey, did anybody read the tv preview in the Onion’s AV Club?
Part 1
Part 2

Is there a Quantum Leap DVD set? Because if there were, that would be awesome…and a gift idea for my dad.

is kottke such MSM that he doesn’t even warrant a via anymore?

perhaps he’s “greased the dolphin” so-to-speak?

I guess upon further review it would have been a (via(via)) anyways…who can keep track of the ethics anyways.

I don’t read Kottke.

good on ya

no worries the internet is the largest circle jerk in the history of mankind anyways. Who cares where it came from just keep spoon feeding me…Im hungry.

*/end disillusioned rant

I am the proud owner of an autographed photo of Richard Dean Anderson. I got it in 3rd grade at an auction (we used points we earned in class).

Looks like it was on Defamer about 9 days ago too. I do read Defamer, or skim it rather. I might have vaguely remembered something from there. Don’t know why I was looking at Richard Dean Anderson’s wikipedia page today, although, in fairness, I’m constantly looking up stuff about local celebrities. I suffer from an excess of civic pride.

maybe someone anonymously fowarded it to you by email

I’m sure that was it.

My first post just so happens to be about the hunky MacGyver.
This list has given me the courage to not feel like a dork every time someone asks me about my collection of MacGyver seasons that I got for X-mas.
Thanks Wikipedia.
