Convention Crashers

I’m so torn. I like the Charlie Daniels band but I hate OMGWTFGOPBBQ08…

It looks like Target is sponsoring the CDB.

Do you have an “in”? Or am I going to have to donate to some PAC to get a ticket?

Man, I wish we got OMGWTFDNCBBQ08 instead.

I just saw this on the PDF of the events. Haven’t seen anything official.

hint…the daily show staff are not staying in MPLS or STP. another hint…I have no idea what parties you’re talking about ;)

I’m thinking Woodbury…

Since I’m not hip to these sort of things, how will the parties work? Are they even possible to crash? Are they guest lists + hookers type thing, or do you need a ticket/invitation to get in? Can you buy your way in?

And most importantly, are any happening where I hang out? You know, Quang, Los Ocampos, Tracy’s Bar and Grill, White Castle, etc? I’d hate to walk to Pho Tau Bay on Tuesday night and encounter a party that I’m not invited to.

The thought of a Republican party at White Castle brings about a whole litany of images. Thanks KC!

OMG, if you have the “in” for a Daily Show party, I’d name my first born “g_rote” (but not Geoff because that’s just ridiculous).

Westin in Edina (is that even open?)?

Westin Edina opens Aug 31. they aren’t staying there, but you’re getting warmer, city-wise.

Is it Hotel Sofitel?

nope…but you’re on the right track. last hint…pack a bathing suit.

That’s going to be one kicking party.

Are they staying in a van down by the river?

Oh, is it that place by the mall with the cheesy water park? (I think there’s a hotel there… right?)

What do I win?

My goal for the RNC is to go to a party, preferably one that won’t cost me money or any exchange of goods/services.

Dear god, if it’s the Waterpark of America can we all just bow our heads in prayer that McCain doesn’t display his expertise in international relations by donning a speedo in solidarity with his French brethren?

My goal for the RNC is to go to a party, preferably one that won’t cost me money or any exchange of goods/services.

see, that’s more of an inclusive Democratic-ish construct you got there. there’s a reason the Republicans don’t publish party locations. and that reason is that you’re not invited.

ranty…my days of hosting contests on here are done.

Well dammit.

But was I right anyway?

It’s a moot point, Ranty, because I beat you by 20 minutes.

Read it and weep.

@g_rote:

Is the Daily Show sleeping on a barge in the Mississippi or Minnesota river?

Oh, crap. That’s what I get for not clickin’ links.

Okay I’m going back to work now…

Also, I know CNBC and some group they’re going to be with have taken over Hotel Ivy.

I’m helping host the SEIU party house, which will be supplied with beer and wine, although I can’t guarantee food, and will have convention watching, music, screenings, comedy. email me if you want details, or check out location three here (you don’t have to register to come, though).

The SEIU party looks like it’ll be fun. Should people bring food?
