“Consistent with national trends, more people are entering treatment for prescription narcotics in the Twin Cities,” said Carol Falkowski, director of the DHS Chemical Health Division and author of the report. “Opiate-related deaths have also been rising since 2000 and now outnumber those for cocaine.”

When folks are jobless, they don’t need that extra “kick” anymore.

I think they need it, they just can’t afford it.
The stats on alcohol are influenced solely by the people I know.

I’d think that because they are jobless they might need the “kick” even more.

They need the because they’re weak-minded people. I drink maybe once a week at the most but i do not use drugs
