I really don't understand how people can do this to innocent children.
How about a scavenger hunt to meet Mark Sanford's girlfriend?

Those little hot dogs are the best. My grandma used to have a dachshund/basset hound mix. He was long like a weiner dog but rather fat and sometimes he’d get stuck on his back and we’d have to roll him over.
I’ve seen weiner dog races on TV and I can’t get enough of them sprinting with their little legs.

Interestingly enough, or not, dachshunds are etymologically similar to greyhounds. They both mean “badger dog.”

Weiner dog races? We are so there. I even know a little German.
I wonder if wagering will be available.

Greyhounds are similar to dachshunds but the grey in greyhound is actually a derivation of gaze meaning they hunt by sight not smell.

My college roommate had a dachshund that only liked her mom and me.

I will be getting a dachshund when we move into a house. I’m sure it isn’t original, but his name will Oscar Meyer.

An etymology originated by Hitler!
I mean Angus Hitler, the noted Philologist of the Amsterdam School of Linguistics, of course.

If it’s a dachshund puppy, I think my wife will move in with you for a couple of weeks, mb.

My family used to have one when I was in high school … college. He bit everyone once except me.
He died when I lived in California and every time I go home I still expect him to come running out with his little tail wagging so hard that the back half of his body was moving side to side. *sigh* I can’t wait until I can afford to get a dog … I’ll be getting a brown miniature dachshund.

mb21…Here is your dog! He even is already named Oscar Meyer and ready for adoption today!

Oh my god… I need that dog. Too bad we can’t have dogs in our condo.

So dachshunds are related to whippets? I love whippets too. I wanted to get one when I was in high school but we didn’t have a big enough yard to let the whippet run around.

I thought whippits were something kids do in junior high school at the grocery store.
/snark.

Whippets are also sight hounds most closely related to Italian Greyhounds, Salukis and full sized greyhounds. If you ever watched the Bravo show about owners of dog show dogs one of the couples had a few Whippets. They basically are right between IG’s and Greyhounds in size but are typically brindled.
