“might” increase?
oh no, it’s already set in stone. it will happen, no matter what the public says. we could show up with pitchforks and burning torches and they’d still pass it.

also, I once again have to bring attention to how the suburban meetings are always in the evenings after regular work hours, but the meetings in the cities proper (mpls/stp) are always right in the middle of the day.

It’s like they’re telling people who live in the cities themselves that they really don’t want them to come to the meeting. especially if you’re a reverse commuter who goes from the city to the burbs.

Well, instead of just bitching on MNSpeak, I emailed the Met Council and they did add an evening meeting in Minneapolis. I assume others emailed/called too.

And, I’m going to the meeting and I’m going to testify, you know, instead of just bitching on MNSpeak.

I think you just punched a hole in the space-time continuum. I’m frozen in my seat.

since when? the strib listing for meeting times only listed a daytime meeting.

That’s what you get for using the Strib as your primary source of information.

kc! – you are bitching about 25 cents.

I rather bitch about putting in new routes.

oh awesome, thanks kc!
and yeah, the strib is really truly rotten these days.

yoshi, we definitely won’t be seeing new routes. just fare hikes and maybe, if we’re really lucky and all really good boys and girls, they’ll keep the service level we have now instead of cutting it.

Right, a quarter this year and 50 cents next year. That’s $1.50 a day extra, making it $5.50 a day for local rush hour fare or $7.00 a day for express rush hour fare. That’s crazy.

I’m going to the one on Wednesday at noon in Minneapolis. I’ll be letting loose and calling them out for being bogus motherfuckers. My grandma is 78 and remembers when it was a nickel, and my father remembers when it cost a dime.

Wayne I assume you will be at the Seward meeting if you are complaining so much.

I will try to attend as well.

Off-Topic: Corporate Land is way better than University MN (wanna-be corporate land)!!!

I will try to make it, but my schedule is awfully busy these days.

wayne, I’m sure your girlfriend could use an evening’s break.

When I was a kid we had the school discount cards (Easy Rider?) and the bus cost .10 cents. That was in the early 80’s.

$7.00 a day for express is frickin’ insane.

$5.50 a day for a 6 mile commute is also insane! Why don’t I ride the bus again? Oh yeah!

I will be particularly furious at that meeting if they don’t give the drivers a cost of living increase. We (drivers and whoever they tell, I don’t know if it will be public) will find out Sunday what the contract is shaping up to look like.

We have already stopped buying big extras and if things look bad on Sunday, we will go into “only necessities” mode. We really can’t afford a strike this year.

until they get a distance-based fare system, I don’t think they have any business raising fares.
if they want to talk about reworking the fare structure and putting increases into that formula, that’s awesome.
but no, they just want to charge someone $5.50 to get across town twice. No, thanks, I’ll bike there.

These are good ideas, Wayne. I dare you to go to Seward next Thursday and say this to their faces.

Or you could just stagnate here in MNspeak, like the li’l transit planner that could. I’m really hoping you do the former.
