Now you're just picking on white people. We steal from disability. Wear baseball caps when we travel overseas. What else?

gay.

Wow. That just made my head explode.

They stole their design from a myspace template. Which isn’t just snark, it’s true… I recognize that background. But if it wasn’t true, it would be good snark.

He myscenecity.com – the 90s called – they want their website design back.
(while its nice to have a local gay site that might actually be up to date – that design is horrid)

If they’d've used a white-ish background for the content column (instead of black behind all the graphic content), the site wouldn’t seem so busy and anarchic. I can tell that a graphic designer put the site together, though; not a web designer. There really isn’t a need for 60+ graphic elements to be there.
Oh, and the site isn’t rendering at all in IE 6.01 because all of the graphics are PNG and they didn’t use the PNG work-around that’s needed to display transparent PNGs in IE 6.

Actually, it’s just the background that is way too busy, if the background was calmer it wouldn’t have the negative reception. Or maybe I’m optimistic here and the truth is if the site’s focus wasn’t gay culture the reception would be positive.
Also, 90’s design? You’re kidding right? This site uses so many design elements that weren’t even possible in the 90’s; transparency on the rounded boxes for starters.

“Or maybe I’m optimistic here and the truth is if the site’s focus wasn’t gay culture the reception would be positive.”
Yeah, because we love bad design when straights do it.

Wha?

All I’m saying is the design isn’t great but people are reacting like it ran over their dog and defiled their mother; get off it, pointlessly deriding someone’s work won’t turn you into a hepcat.

Sounds like a graphic designer…

“They stole their design from a myspace template.” != “It ran over my dog and defiled my mother,” but hey, whatever. From now on if I can’t say something upbeat and encouraging I’ll say nothin’ at all.

Or maybe I wasn’t talking about your comment kurtis, whichever way you want to view it.

I think MNSpeak would shrivel up and die if we all stopped doing this…

Well that explains why I saw nothing but a psychedelic trip. (I know, I know, but I’m stuck on IE6 at work, and for once I might be grateful for it.)
Until I’ve actually looked at it for real, I’ll just assume that it’s pretty heavy on the G and light on the LBT, like all the other “inclusive” sites.

I was wondering why the only thing loading was an insane background a random /a> in the upper left corner.
