Thank you so much to those of you who have sent condolences. Don Berg was an amazing, talented, loving man. I will miss him more than words can say.

For any of you who may have seen him play at any one of the many venues in or around the Twin Cities, you know that the Jazz community has lost someone great. Hopefully his music will live on.

I'm sorry for your loss, too, justpbob.
Sorry for your loss, HB. Saw the obit for your father-in-law in the paper today.

My Dad lost his last surviving (of three) brother this week, when word came that my Uncle Bill had died in a nursing home in Utah. William Moffitt was career Navy (a Chief Petty Officer) and lot of fun to be around. He will be cremated and his ashes scattered from a military vessel at sea to join with his lost shipmates from WW II and his beloved son Tommy, who died in Vietnam in 1969 and who also was buried at sea.

So long, Doggie Berg. Rest in peace, Uncle Bill.

There are also various other URL shortening services of varying reliability. My current favorite is is.gd. If you just paste a link into Twitter, assuming you haven't exceeded your character limit, sometimes it'll automatically make it a tinyurl for you (after you post it).

Also, if you use Firefox there's a TinyURL creator plugin that allows you to create one from whatever page you're visiting by right clicking in the address bar, or giving you a few other options under Tools.

The Sunday before the Peace Prayer Service, Fr. Jim said that we were not going to be naughty, that we were going to obey the deal he negotiated with the chancellors office. It sounds like he did.

I like Andy Driscoll's commentary. There are many reasons I have not considered myself a Catholic since middle school. This is just one more item that confirms I made the right decision.
