What happens when a local girl records herself reacting to a movie trailer? She gets invited to the movie’s wrap party, of course!
The producers at Pixar were so touched and motivated by Courtney’s reaction to the Wall-E trailer that they flew her out to San Francisco to party with them. Naturally, Bunny joined her and they clearly had the best time on earth.

That’s true. We did have the best time on earth. The Pixar people were really wonderful to Coco. And Wall-E is an incredibly sweet film — I think the character might be the best Pixar has created.
Also, the short film that opens it, Presto, is perfect. Just pure slapstick mayhem.
7:43 pm
Living the dream, living the dream.
8:06 pm
I don’t cry at movies….ever. But I did at wall*e twice…both times i’ve seen it.
This is an excellent story.
(And counteracts the idiotic conservative commentary about Walt Disney being a soulless corporation making a anti-bush hypocritical film.)
8:17 pm
This story is receiving quite the reaction on Metafilter, too.
8:18 pm
I’ve been following this for awhile; it is such a cool story.
8:25 pm
That woman has issues.
8:27 pm
She just loves robots is all.
8:28 pm
“I have a strong fondness for robots as it is, so Pixar really found a key demographic”
It’s not a robot!!!! It’s animation!! Pixar cranks them out like link sausage.
8:30 pm
She likes sausage, too.
8:30 pm
She cries when she sees wieners.
8:32 pm
Well, I should have known it wouldn’t take very long before someone shit on it.
8:33 pm
At least you’re consistent, Rat.
8:35 pm
now I want to see the movie. maybe tomorrow.
8:36 pm
Great for lunch/Great for dinner/You can be a wiener winner/at the Hormel,,,,, Hall…. of… Fame!
8:43 pm
I cry when I see animated robot wieners.
I’m actually considering seeing the movie tonight.
8:45 pm
I find the premises of all Pixar movies to be unrealistic.
8:47 pm
I cry when I see animated robot wieners.
Bet that’s on pay Internet.
8:49 pm
Reading your recap of the story is making me cry, Courtney. So sweet.
8:50 pm
Well, I should have known it wouldn’t take very long before someone shit on it.
Once again, a perfectly good thread turns into a discussion of what happened last night with teucer’s mom.
8:52 pm
Guess I better find my kleenex. I’m a crier…
8:55 pm
Wow. That’s really cool.
9:03 pm
Clearly, expressing excitement for a movie is not normal according to some people.
I, on the other hand, think it’s awesome.
9:04 pm
Though I seem to lack to proper hormones to make me cry at robots – perhaps the plot of a future Pixar film? – I think it’s so adorable that Courtney does, and that it led to this fantasy adventure. The sort that only usually happens in the movies.
9:06 pm
The Rat really wanted to see Redbelt,
Wasn’t crying over it, though.
9:20 pm
Well, bully for you then.
9:22 pm
I totally got a few tears in my eyes watching her watch the trailer. It’s like a chain reaction.
I think it’s so cool that they sent her all that swag AND then paid for her and Max to come party with them.
9:25 pm
Max, too?
With only one woman?
Can’t be!
9:26 pm
I also cried a little watching Courtney cry. It’s kind of meta, no?
9:32 pm
I actually paid for my own ticket out there — their original invite was for Courtney, and although they were very gracious about having me come along as well, we weren’t going to ask them to pony up for another airplane flight.
9:35 pm
I smiled as it brought back the memories of Coco crying from joy the first time we scissored. There were robots there too.
9:36 pm
It’s kind of meta, no?
No
9:44 pm
I thought it was Lara Logan, mb.
10:13 pm
From the link:
“As some of you know, when the trailer first came out, my girlfriend, Courtney, burst into tears at the trailer. She was emabrrassed but somewhat amused by this, as so she made a video of herself watching the trailer on her computer, knowing she would start crying every time that little robot said his own name.”
OK, so is this The Original Crying Video or a subsequent one where Courtney cried on cue?
10:15 pm
There’s only one video, Rat. Coco watched the preview on her computer and filmed her reaction.
10:19 pm
That’s not answering the question, Max.
10:21 pm
Rat, stop trying to be the Eeyore of mnspeak. It is a really sweet story and an experience that most of us would kill for the chance to get.
10:23 pm
I guess I don’t understand the question. Could you restate it?
10:24 pm
Man don’t cry. Man only hunt and drink beer. Man SMASH Wall E!
10:25 pm
You know what I’m talking about, Max. This isn’t a spontaneous reaction. It’s a re-enactment.
10:28 pm
Not it’s not, Rat. She cried the first time she watched the trailer so she filmed herself the second time knowing she would genuinely start crying again.
Seriously dude, what’s your fucking problem?
10:28 pm
If it makes her cry every time she watches it, how is that a reenactment?
10:29 pm
She’s not acting, or pretending, if that’s what you’re trying to say. It was her genuine reaction to seeing the trailer again, and then again, and it’s still her reaction when she watches the trailer.
10:32 pm
Seriously dude, what’s your fucking problem?
Why do you have to speak like that? I’m just asking.
10:33 pm
You weren’t precisely asking, though, were you, Rat?
You’re being weirdly assholish to my girlfriend. Is there some reason for this?
10:33 pm
No, you’re not just asking.
10:36 pm
You have a clear pattern of crapping on just about every thread, and every activity or story some of us find interesting, so I seriously doubt you’re “just asking.”
You should try just ignoring things you don’t approve of, or find stupid. You won’t come off as such an unpleasant, rude, unhappy person.
10:38 pm
Man SMASH Wall E? . . . Wall E make man rain from eyes . .
10:38 pm
I find it disturbing that Coco is being accused of being phony, which is so far from the truth it’s almost laughable. Almost.
10:39 pm
This thread wasn’t started by you, Max. Didn’t have an idea it was your girlfriend. I don’t know anything about your personal life.
10:40 pm
That’s not answering the question, Rat.
10:41 pm
JACC FTW!
10:43 pm
I saw a woman crying. I thought it was (odd but) spontaneous. It clearly wasn’t. It was something done for the camera.
10:45 pm
Well, in that sense, you’re correct. She deliberately filmed her reaction to the trailer, because she knew how she would respond, and it amused her.
10:53 pm
I get a tear in the eye at the end of Hoosiers every time. I really have to man-up.
10:55 pm
I cry whenever Jimmy Stewart says “Zuzu’s petals.”
In fact, Zuzu Petals was going to be my drag name for a while, before I became Stabrina.
10:56 pm
I’m also a crier. I need to grow a pair. I sometimes hide my face so my wife doesn’t see me crying at the end of some lame TV show. You know, like the news.
10:56 pm
I can’t think of crying over any movie that has Dennis Hopper in it.
10:58 pm
Not even The Osterman Weekend?
10:59 pm
Didn’t mean to diss your girlfriend, Max.
10:59 pm
I cry at the end of The Color Purple every damn time I see it (and I’ve seen it a lot).
Also, and more shamefully, I cried watching Toy Story 2.
11:24 pm
Oh, great. The Rat killed MnSpeak with his negativity, man.
11:27 pm
Is my AOLs back online yet? Clicking Open Apple didn’t help.
P.S. I cry whenever I take a dump after Thai food.
11:30 pm
P.P.S. I’m totally pumped to see Wall-E.
11:44 pm
I’ve been in the room while Coco cried while watching the trailer.
It’s very real.
Much like my tears everytime anyone says anything mean abouit Lara Logan. Who cares that she’s a homewrecker!
11:48 pm
I cry every time Teucer’s mom shows up at my door.
12:22 am
Lara Logan is a robot.
I cried a little at Sex and the City
12:49 am
I cried A LOT at Sex and the City.
12:53 am
I know Max, I read the porn script.
1:34 am
Watching the video of her crying made me cry, too. I’ve kind of put off seeing Wall-E because I ended up crying during most of Lilo & Stitch (my little sister: Are you CRYING? me: no, I just got some salt in my eye!) and my family made fun of me for a year after that. I’m hate getting emotional in public, even if its a dark room of strangers!
8:36 am
I’m not ashamed to say I cry at lot of movies. Or at least tear up. The movie that really made me cry, even sob, was My Girl with Macaulay Calkin. Gosh, I was seriously weeping.
8:41 am
I cried reading Max’s porn script for Sex and the City…
8:43 am
What about The Dirty Dozen?
9:16 am
MB, Lara Logan is a real person with real feelings!
Unlike you, she has a soul!
How dare you insult Lara Logan!
A curse upon your cable news networks!
9:24 am
Unlike you, she has a soul!
And a mouth like a horse, some people were saying.
10:01 am
I’m a softie. I cried at the end of West Side Story, and I felt like crying after reading Max’s summary, and now I know why I’ve been hesitant about seeing Wall-E. I’d love to see it in the theater but might have to wait until it comes out on DVD so as not to embarrass my date. LOL
Great story Courtney and Max! I love it when things like this happen to real people.
2:03 pm
I cry every time Teucer’s mom shows up at my door.

not to worry, that’s just the fumes.
We watched “Turner and Hooch” last nite, and we both cried when Hooch died.
2:09 pm
I thought it was Turner who died.
3:52 pm
Nicely written post too. Just reading THAT made me tear up. What a cool experience.
4:02 pm
here’s a “daiku”
The dog died, we cried.
Wait, wha? thought Hooch was the pooch,
short memory…loss.
5:22 pm
Courtney is slated to be on the WCCO 10pm news tonight (Wed.). My buddy Heather Brown will be interviewing her in about ten minutes.
5:25 pm
What?? Holy crap! We have to clean the apartment!
5:27 pm
The story itself is fairly unbelievable. If your apartment is clean, then no one will believe any of it.
5:33 pm
WCCO is here. I wonder what our landlord thinks about the fact that we bring television news crews into our apartment about once every three or four months?
5:36 pm
WCCO is here. I wonder what our landlord thinks about the fact that we bring television news crews into our apartment about once every three or four months?
At least they’re still alive?
5:36 pm
I presume he guesses you’re producing internet “videos.”
5:42 pm
They would be right.
6:33 pm
And, done. Apparently, Sailor Martin was livetweeting the whole thing.
9:24 pm
I hope the camera crew didn’t pick up on that female condom I left draped over the lamp shade. How embarassing.
10:14 pm
This is where the Coco and Bunny on WCCO discussion belongs.
10:43 pm
The Video on WCCO.com
10:48 pm
Shelby said “dude’s.” I’m not sure how I feel about that. It’s kind of like my dad rocking the Shocker.
10:57 pm
In the background of the video, you can just barely make out this painting, this painting, and this painting.
11:13 pm
I hope the camera crew didn’t pick up on that female condom I left draped over the lamp shade. How embarassing.
I hear it’s tomorrow’s Good Question – What is this thing?
11:19 pm
I do feel a little bad that it what soiled.
11:43 pm
You know Max, I like the prints, but am more of a Jeff Soto fan.
12:00 am
Text of the WCCO story.
2:33 am
zomg love the robots with birdhouses!
when we look back at the most important things to happen in 2008, the Wall”E Courtney Saga will be #2. Right now it’s #1, but some new even more fantastic thing is going to happen – probably, right?
6:16 am
I hear it’s tomorrow’s Good Question – What is this thing?
Or, “People actually use these things?” I thought they were just made up for sex ed classes, because I never see them sold in stores or in the fishbowls at free clinics.
8:44 am
What a great story! both what happened and how you told it. I can just imagine the Pixar folks working in a frenzy on a film and not knowing if it will be worth it, and then seeing Courtney’s video.
I still cry every time I hear that song “When she loved me”from Toy Story 2, aliecat.
