Your cherry-limeade wait is over

I’ve never been to a Sonic, and there isn’t one within driving distance of where I live, and yet I’m force to fast forward through their advertisements every time I watch television.

For that reason I hope their attempt at breaking into the Twin Cities market fails even quicker than Krispy Kreme’s attempt did.

I’ve never been to a Sonic either but after sitting through thousands of commercials for the place I am intrigued. What is the price point?

Where do they fall in the the Hardee’s, Wendy’s, McD, BK continuum?
I doubt I would drive to Woodbury for a Cherry Lime Ade but if I was in the neighborhood.

Oh my stars! There have been times I’ve seriously considered driving to Des Moines for Sonic. This is amazing!

I will avoid Sonic based solely on their terrible advertising campaigns. If there is any truth in advertising, ingesting anything from Sonic makes you incredibly lame and dumber than Paris Hilton.

Eat Sonic and fear not, for there IS no truth in advertising…

Is a Sonic Chili Cheese Dog of better quality than one from S.A. three blocks from my office?

It’s more known for it’s drinks than it is for it’s food. We moved here from KC last June and we were dissapointed that there wasn’t a Sonic in the state. The commercials were just insult to injury. I would like to go by there on a -18 degree day and watch all the car-hops freeze their asses off.

Can Steak & Shake be far behind?

Please, O Lord, hear our prayer….In thy sight, it must be right. Send us your son, Takhomasak, the Happy Warrior of Carry Out, to comfort us in our time of sorrow, give us our chili 3-Ways, and forgive us coveting our neighbors’ side-by-side shake.

*Raises hand as incredibly lame and dumb*

I’ll totally embrace my lameness as there’s a sonic in Suck Falls, SD. And I visit every time I am there. I so dig those cherry limey slushy thingys.

Steak and Shake! Minnesota would be a more perfect place if it had the holyhamburger trinity of Steak & Shake, Sonic’s and In and Out.

There’s no one in his or her right mind who would say a bad thing about In-N-out. No one.

You know, sometimes foreplay is nice too.

Ha! And sometimes foreplay is way overrated!

I would burn down a million Sonics for just one Steak ‘N’ Shake in this state.

I have never had a Sonic Cherry-Limeade, but they sound crazy good!

(Disclaimer: I would not actually “burn down” any buildings. And anyway, if there was a Steak ‘N’ Shake, it would surely be way out in Maple Grove or somewhere, and I would never get out there.)

I did the S & S thang in Indy last month. Better than I remembered!

Sheesh, Steak & Shake? Next people will want Quaker Steak & Lube or Eat and Park.

Cat, SF is the third level of chain restaurant hell. When have you ever waited for an hour to be seated at Applebees or Fridays except for when you visit Sioux Falls.

So true. The Friday’s by the mall used to be the restaurant.

Well, now that you mention it, I would like an Eat ‘N’ Park, as well.

Ugh! Alie. I hear ya’. But I have yet to go to Fridays or Applebees in Sioux Falls – mostly because I have friends who have interest in some local places… not necessarily better, but supportin’ and all.

I’ve never heard of Steak & Shake but would sell 12% of my soul for the rebirth of Hardee’s.

There is still a Hardee’s in St Paul.

369 Hamline Ave S
Saint Paul, MN 55105-2901

Also Anoka and Elk River.

Tru dat, Simpleton. The St. Paul Hardee’s even has WiFi, as I posted here.

NO. No Steak & Shake.

Yes! Yes, Steak & Shake!

Honestly, David, some days I think you don’t hear a word I’m saying!

;-)

thanks to you, mnspeak, i went to sonic over lunch and waited for, like, 40 minutes in the staging area before i got to the drivethru. i forgot about minnesotans and new national chain openings (ikea and krispy kreme come to mind).

i got my cherry limeade, though. yum!

The new Sonic is in East St. Paul not Woodbury. A couple of blocks from Maplewood actually you can take the White Bear ave ext or the Ruth ave ext. and go right. Just bellow Battle Creek Park. IF you see the 3M bldg you have gone too far. Drove past there this weekend and they where doing some kind of training.

Maybe after they stop threatening to arrest deaf people, bob.

Technically, the new Sonic is in the Battle Creek neighborhood of St. Paul just across from Byerly’s. Very convenient from the White Bear Ave. or Ruth St. exits going east-bound … and many miles from Woodbury.

Re: Steak & Shake. Isn’t there already one at the MOA?

Maybe after they stop threatening to arrest deaf people, bob.

Had forgotten that. Wondered why you were down on S&S, now I recall our earlier discusion on that incident. Sounds to me like they should have apologized and disciplined those involved. Instead, they look like hearie fools of the worst kind…

Re: S&S in MOA. Nope. Similar name, but not S&S at all.

And, after looking over the menu, I don’t care if a Sonic burger is not better or worse than Wendy’s. Sonic has LIMEADE!!!!!!!!!

I had heard, they were “working” with the woman involved to reach a solution, but that was back in March, and there hasn’t been much progress.

I’m guessing that like most cases, until she starts making noises about a law suit, she’s not going to see much headway.

A few years ago when I last went to Sonic I had Icee-like drink with a little bit of dairy in it. It was great. Really, Sonic is the only reason I go below the Mason-Dixon line. And funerals.

Google Street View lets me know that the site of Sonic used to be a Taco Bell. And that cigarette shop in Coon Rapids was a White Castle.

Well thank God the Sonic isn’t in North Oaks.

What, Michigan, too? It’s a Sonic boom, it tells ya!

Mother Bixby just informed me that they’re putting one in Elk River too.

What the heck hell? Don’t nobody live there.

There’s no one in his or her right mind who would say a bad thing about In-N-out. No one.

Their burgers are pretty good, but they have religious messages printed on the bottom of their cups.

Since i essentially hate religion, and succumb to the hell pit that is agnosticism, In -n-Out can get bent. I make way better burgers, and I don’t put any slimy orange sauce on them.

Bix, the Elk River one almost made me decide to keep working in ER. I’d consider driving there just for that, actually.

If there were a Sonic, Steak and Shake and In n Out in my neighborhood, I would gladly welcome my three-month-away heart attack.

I hear what you’re saying, baker. But, the scripture notations don’t bug me as they don’t print the entire passage and they don’t push their agenda.

It’s a family owned biz and it’s what they believe so I don’t begrudge them that.

We should have the first evar mnspeak sonic get together at some point in the future. And when I say “sonic get together” I mean that we go somewhere where alcohol will be plentiful and draw straws for who goes on the Sonic run.

Oh yes…. The steak and shake and in n out combo along with sonic will make my life complete.

One of my fond memories of trips out east of recent have been stops at steak and shake. that’s some good stuff.
