Can't be more predictable than yankees.
Enh, at least some good came out of it. Eventually.

I agree. The Yankees are boringly predictable.
This is why the Twins are the Twins and the Yankees are the Yankees. Let's see, should we go for Hardy or Teixera? Hmmm.
I tink peraps it is te curc of Crist, Marybet414.

I like the guy, but I have to admit he was a bit disappointing.

I don’t know what size they serve now, but the “old” 331 Club used to bill itself as the “Home of the 16 Oz. Tap.”
7:52 am
It’s a money thing. I don’t like it alot either but bars exspenses have gone up just like all others and if they can save a few cents on each glass of beer they sell it helps their bottom line. Most customers that even notice will grumble a little bit perhaps, but does two ounces of beer really make that much difference to most people. If you really want to get sloshed, just order one more glass. If may even save a few people a DWI ticket.
8:01 am
There was a story in the Strib recently on the rising cost of beer. It’s the hops, or lack of them.
8:06 am
In other beer-related news, Fitger’s in Duluth will now deliver a growler to your doorstep. The News Tribune has more deets on the deal.
8:26 am
Fooey on this. The mark-up on beer at most places is so outrageous they ought to be giving you two more ounces.
8:30 am
Take your socialist collectiveness propganda somewhere else, you dirty hippy!
The Invisibe Hand of the Free Market will set your beer price and portions, mister! Why do you hate America?
8:51 am
Cause I used to sell beer at ridiculous free market prices! Lining my satin pockets by gouging customers, many of whom were low-income.
Those were the days.
8:55 am
Satin pockets? *grin*
A nice touch that, Kevin.

If I ask for a PINT, give me a PINT. Not 14 fluid oz. Generally speaking, if your “pint glass” doesn’t have an outward bulge about 2/3 of the way up, it’s not a true 16oz glass. Based on my experience, very few places use this flared “true pint”. Fuel and food commodoties prices are one thing, but I draw the line at inflationary beer pricing. There is going to be rioting in the street if the people are denied their cheap beer.
9:26 am
Actually when I order a pint I’d rather get 22oz of beer, but I tend to drink english style ales.
9:28 am
How many pints are in a liter? (Or should that be “litre?”)
Had pizza at the Roman Market Sunday afternoon (after biking 10 miles to get there) and quenched my thirst with a liter of Summit EPA. Made the ride back all that more enjoyable. If there are 3 pints to a liter, then the purchase was more than worth it because a pint was $4 but a liter was $7.
Btw, anyone ever hear of Kwak beer? That was on the menu, too.
9:49 am
I’ve had Kwak several times, once at the Falstaff Tavern in Brussels. It’s very good, but by no means my favorite Belgian ale.
9:51 am
About 34 ounces in a liter. Thus, just over two pints in a liter.
9:52 am
Two pints is about 1.5 ounces shy of a liter.
9:54 am
Kwak = goofy glass with a wooden handle apparatus to hold it. Good alcohol content (8% I believe). Got introduced to this at Buster’s and am never disappointed when someone buys me one. It is kind of sweet and malty, highly recommended. One of those beers that manages to get me drunk but not sloppy after a couple. More than a couple gets to be too much sweetness for me.
9:55 am
BTW, Surly releases CynicAle in stores today…and if the hype amongst beer snobs is accurate, it will fly off the shelves. Perfect summer brew.
9:57 am
At Roman Market, a pint of Kwak was $8 and a litre was $15. Given the higher alcohol content, I’m guessing it’s worth it. Hmmm. Methinks this calls for another bike ride soon. Skoal!
9:59 am
Ein mass, bitte.
The Germans don’t skimp on their beer.
9:59 am
1 Liter = 2.1133764188651876 Pints (From calculateMe.com) Hence, just over two pints in a liter.

on the topic of beer…come summertime, I kinda wish I lived within crawling distance of the Happy Gnome’s patio.
10:15 am
I work within crawling distance to the Gnome, so I got that going for me.
Not being that much of a beer guy, I prefer the patio at Sweeny’s.
10:31 am
when we first moved here 8 years ago, we attended the wedding reception of my wife’s friend from HS @ Sweeny’s upstairs party room. The groom made a Replacements mix tape that played all night, they served chicken wild rice soup, fried walleye and brats, and the only hosted beverage was Michelob Genuine Draft Light on tap. I didn’t realize it at the time, but it’s the most Minnesotaesque formal event that I’ve ever attended.
10:46 am
Satin pockets? *grin*
You’ve heard the song Pocket Full of Sunshine – that’s about me.
11:16 am
Oooo, I’m getting that new CynicAle TODAY. Now, what to do with the half keg of Summit left over from Saturday…hmm…
12:12 pm
You could always wash Teucer’s mom’s feet…or foot, as I believe someone said the other one was wood….or maybe I’m just starting a rumor. However, all the mnspeakers could have a foot fetish party, ya know, like, with licking and stuff.
*I don’t know what’s wrong with me, I just can’t leave Teucer’s mom alone*
12:17 pm
2oldfarts: “I don’t know what’s wrong with me, I just can’t leave Teucer’s mom alone”
That’s what she said!
Oh, self-ownage.
12:40 pm
Wow, Teucer’s been the “she said” lady all along.
*am I the first to find this out?*
12:54 pm
You’re the first one to learn that without clumsily fumbling with my bra-straps, so well done there.
1:02 pm
You don’t wear bra straps, you wear a bano, and you wear it too small, so no body can see if you have tittys. I think you do that on purpose.
1:04 pm
bano=bando

I KNEW IT, I KNEW IT!!!!
Teucer is that “she said” lady.
HA HA TEUCER’S GOT BANDO PUPPIES.
*wringing hands and smiling with glee*
1:30 pm
“TEUCER’S GOT BANDO PUPPIES.”
This is my new favorite phrase. Bando Puppies, AKA “pugs”.
1:42 pm
As far as I know, the tulip shaped pint glass should actually be 20oz and is called an Imperial Pint. Your guiness, Harp, smithwicks ect should be poored in this way. Grumpy’s does this correctly, for example. So, they charge $5 for a guiness, but you get 20oz. Vs the 4 Dollar 16oz pint of Surrly or Summot or whatever.
Domestic beers normally come in a straight sided 16oz pint glass.
No idea about those Stella flutes…
Obviously, a 14oz glass isn’t a pint, it is a 14oz glass.
1:43 pm
“pugs” is good, did you inherit them from your mom? along with that beautiful wooky smile I mean.
1:58 pm
Sorry, I seemed to have hyjacked a perfectly good beer thread.
I blame it on Teucer’s mom.
Later.
2:00 pm
That would have been a hojacking.
2:00 pm
Oliver, that went too far.
2:01 pm
hee
2:02 pm
Like I did when I skeeted on your mother’s face.
2:18 pm
Max? was that under or on top of the roundy, cuz if it was under you might have hit the “pugs” instead. It is, after all dark under the roundy, then with all that hair, well, who know’s what’s where?
2:28 pm
what to do with the half keg of Summit left over from Saturday…hmm…
Reduce the beer via boiling until it’s about the consistancy of molasses and save it for use as a basting liquid for grilled chicken.
2:36 pm
Turn it into E85 and sell it to the Dems in Denver!
4:20 pm
Nice, approximatly half of the posts actaully relate the the subject at hand. Doesn’t anyone moderate this thing? Shouldn’t off topic posts be removed? Doesn’t mnspeak have open threads for the “your mother” jokes?
Anyway, to get back on topic, Mac’s Industrial Sports Bar definetly has proper pints, though I do not know if they do the british/irish beers in Imperial pints.
Definetly going to keep my eyes peeled. Interesting topic.
4:21 pm
I’m the moderator, if that answers any or all of your questions.
4:21 pm

Sacre bleu, grote! Melt Summit??? Your necktie must be a little tight today.
4:28 pm
His hair helmet is crushing his brain!

You could just flush it. There is a reason you still have a half a keg.
Re: Pints
I’ve heard that in Ireland and England, even when a bar uses proper pint glasses, there have been riots over the amount of foam.
4:55 pm
It’s summer, so I donated my hair helmet to the Sparber Eklund balding middle aged guy fund.
And I’d rather melt Summit than drink that St. Paul pisswater.
Yes, my necktie is tight…but I refuse to give in to the Ascot.
My favorite micro summer sippers:
1) Surly CynicAle
2) Dale’s Pale Ale
3) Bell’s 2 Hearted
4:57 pm
So, what is the point of bothering with a topic then, if no one bothers to stick to the topic on hand?
Maybe I can come up with some poop jokes, or try to turn this into a “the democrats/republicans” are trying to undermine us with undersized pint glasses thread, since there is not enough of that already. snicker.
5:00 pm
We always worm our way back to the topic. Relax. It’s no fun being a thread cop.
I delete stuff that is outright trolling, but even then pretty rarely. Yes, MnSpeakers are pretty jokey, but I actually consider that one of their saving graces.
5:02 pm
If you can make a poop joke that follows a beer thread, then by all means…
5:03 pm
2 girls, one pint glass.
5:10 pm
All right, all right
5:16 pm
So, what is the point of bothering with a topic then
It helps the rest of us know what not to talk about.
5:20 pm
Seaking of CynicAle, I have gone to two bars, and both have it… UNTAPPED! They are waiting to get rid fo the Bitter Brewer.
Frustrating, I tell you. Yum. Soooooon…

7:31 pm
so you’ve been to 4 bars looking for CynicAle?
9:13 pm
Sorry about that… not sure how that happened.
Though, CC CLub and Busters in South Minneapolis have it on tap now.
Grumpy’s NE and Macs have it in the basement. So, four bars
Went to busters, it was a full pint. And good! A little different then last year.
9:21 pm
A little different then last year.
god bless micros.
