Today, before a talk about “The Changing Role of Media Critics,” Minnesota Monitor’s Paul Schmelzer announced the site is being revamped. It will be launched on Monday as the Minnesota Independent. Schmelzer said he helped play a key role in the redesign. A sneak peek is on The Deets blog. Other notable locals I saw today included The Uptake’s Chuck Olson and Noah Kunin, Eric Utne, and the energetic guys from Minnesota We Are Change.

The biggest celebrity I saw at the event today was Craig Newmark from Craigslist.

Kevin, that sounds like a bit of a straw man argument to me. No one is suggesting that MinnMon should be taken more seriously because of their rebranding and redesign.

The content drives the brand more than anything. Yet their content was being held back to some degree by their soon to be previous platform.
