the timing of announcing he’s won depends on what HRC does. he can’t grab the laurel out of turn without pissing off her supporters any more than they already are. he can make it seem increasingly ridiculous for her to continue — reinforcing the narrative of his campaign with the des moines and st. paul rallies is part of this. but to say “i am now the nominee” would be nuts. he won’t do it until HRC is gone.

He’s a much better politician than that rat. He didn’t go quite that far. He knows that he’ll need to bring in a lot of Hillary’s supporters, so he didn’t and won’t be doing anything that would intentionally antagonize them. Unless he’s got some commitments from enough SDs to put him over the top, I would guess he’ll stop short of declaring himself the winner.

In fact, there’s no need for him to make that declaration, because the tv talking heads will be doing that for him,. By scheduling the rally for St. Paul, he’s just skillfully riding the waves of the media whirlwind.

But aren’t Clinton’s supporters too tuckered out from this weekend to get mad at Obama’s declaration.

just like Golden Smog were never announced to play the Target Center rally here in MN back in March.

and even so, while the Decemberists are from Portland, they don’t draw that well even in their hometown, free or not. on their own w/ no other decent opening acts, 5-6k AT BEST, and their usual shows are 2500-ish size (and smaller in most of the US)

So the high school I work at is having it’s graduation tomorrow at 5…in Roy Wilkins arena. Yeah, we were informed that the secret service may be coming. We’re ever so happy.

I hope Obama brings his “A game” to the podium tonight — if you have never heard the guy speak, you should take this opportunity — regardless of who you plan on voting for in November. These Obama rallys are unlike anything seen in this country for many years — you should experience one for yourself. You don’t get the same vibe watching on teevee.

You start with nothing and slowly build up vacation and sick, but are not allowed to take vacation for your first six months.

For your first five years you get 12 vacation days and 12 sick days. From 5-8 years, it goes up to 15 vacation days. That’s where I am now.

At least that is the MAPE and AFSCME contacts, which most state employees fall under.

The Clinton camp seems to be in quite a bit of disarray this morning bob, because other officials are saying that she will concede the nomination tonight.

So, to summarize: there will be concessions, but not beer or by Hillary.

One way I’ve heard it, is that she’s going to acknowledge he has the delegates, would concede and endorse, but wouldn’t actually suspend the campaign. The hope being that it would bring some pressure on Obama to address some of her issues (health care, VP, etc.).

Personally, I think I’d like to see her stay in the Senate as Majority Leader. Unchained from presidential politics, and representing NY, I think she could rank as one of the best.
