So public hearing was set today to repeal the booting license from Mpls code of ordinances. The “boot” of course is the apparatus placed on your tire if you park where you’re not supposed to. Any thoughts?
Before you reply, look at this from a property owners prospective as well as the alternative. As a property/business owner, what would you do if you had limited parking for your customers and cars were parking in your spots and going elsewhere? If booting is eliminated, property/business owners will have no choice but to contract with tow companies. That means instead of the $100 boot removal fee, you’ll be stuck with a $240-$260 tow fee and your car is gone! Which would you prefer?
