Your just pandering by putting the word bacon in the post.

Possibly. But what else are pork barrels full of?

Apologies to P.J. O’Rourke for stealing his material, too.

Mikey Brodkorb, what a classless bastard.

Do you think more taxes would have saved the I-35W bridge, Yoder?

No I am not the Mayor of St. Boni, but I will take it as a complement. I like his style. The tax war is on and the metro does not know it yet. You have pushed people in rural areas too far and they will fight back, this is just one example. Carver county did not vote for the metro transit tax increase and anyone that had would have been voted out in the next election. Why is it such a big deal, people in the out state are sick of the Mpls bullshit. They see their tax dollars going to programs that they would never use and do not agree with and it angers them. They also are sick of the politically correct crowd constantly looking down on their life style and out look on life. They could give a flying fuck about light rail and buses they drive trucks and see mass transit as an attack on their way of life. When these people push back they are made to look like country bum-kins but in reality they produce huge tax dollars that go to the general fund which are redistributed to less financially sound cities like Mpls and st Paul. One only need to look at the median income of Carver county and you will understand why they get pissed off subsidizing light rail, welfare, stadiums ect.. Now if we could stop the Met council from intruding any farther into our county, one can only dream and educate.

More than 3M?

More than 3M?

Were do most of the people that work at 3m live, Mpls.? St. Paul? No they live in the burbs or out state. The suburbs are where much of the per-capita brain power lives, that is why the income levels are higher.

I guess you have all kinds of links and evidence for that.

Here are some income levels by county

You’ll find Hennepin and Ramsey County per capita personal income pretty high. They’re a little old but I assume they have probably gone up.

This isn’t very hard to find. You might want to try and do this before you just pull things out of your ass.

FTFA, I think Mikey Brodkorb is a classless bastard.

I do so enjoy looking down my nose at the little people out there. Let them eat cake.

And keep in mind, Swandog, that people in Carver County don’t tend to make their money IN Carver County. Something tells me they may stop by Hennepin for their paychecks.

Swanny — better mass transit decreases congestion in the metro area, making things easier for people who drive trucks and such in and around the metro: true or false? Just askin’…

Let us look at the date you provided because it proves my point. median income in carver =44,137 median income in Henipin = 49566 median income in Ramsey 40883 . That said why if the median income of Ramsey county and Hennipin county why would they need any money redistributed to their counties from carver. Should they not be self sufficient and not take money form other counties. Let us look at the most telling number and that is transfer payments made to Ramsay and Hennipin, (transfer-payment = some form of income redistribution). It is telling that Hennipin county received 4,781 in transfer payments Ramsey received 5,637 inTR payments and Carver received 2,684 in transfer payments. I think Carver is getting fucked in the governmental give away program game. The earnings per resident is 35,301 in carver it is 35,116 in henipin and it is 27,406 in Ramsey. My point is that you seem to think that others in the out state should fund your programs through transfer payments and welfare give-away programs. I want to thank your for the enlightening information you provided it assisted me in proving what the article was saying i.e. the x-surbs and the out state are sick of the big tax give away programs on the twin cities they receive way more in transfer payments than many other counties. It is about tax justice and representation when the money give-away game goes on and we in the out state get screwed.

Buses may light rail never. I lived by the light rail and it does not reduce congestion it screwed the traffic flow up on Hiawatha permanently but one will never hear about that in the press. Roads move more people than trains or buses will ever move. Furthermore you have to convince people to ride them some increase will come with gas prices rising but eventually it will saturate.

Like Social Security and Medicare. Because Carver County is funding those. Great statistics you’ve provided. Thanks again. You’ve really proved your point.

Or perhaps you’ve proved that counties with older populations receive more Social Security and Medicare. At any rate, great work parsing out the stats.

Averages of Averages does not good statistics make.

It’s likely that the big Metro areas have more really wealthy than the outstate areas which brings the median income average up, but that does little to nothing for the Metro’s old and poor.

Yes, actually look at it.

I’d wager you that there are more people living under the median income in one of these counties than there are people in Carver.
Carver County pop. 70,205
Henn County pop. 1,116,200

Which would explain the larger number of distributions.

True but carver co. gets screwed on a per-capita basis. The point is we want to be left alone and not pay for welfare programs and mass-transit of the metro. It is their problem not ours. If people in Henipin and Ramsy want a program in every pot then their citizens should pay for it not the citizens of carver. Yes poverty is greater in Henipin and Ramsey but they receive a larger share of the dollars to make up for it. However, the demand for other peoples money never ends that is the point of the article people are sick and tired of paying for it. One solution is all the roads out of mpls and st paul can be toll roads then you can pay for whatever “program” you want to.

So we will keep our money and you can keep yours, that is my point and it is proven out by the fact that more transfer payments to to the inner city that the out state and we do not want to fund it anymore.

maybe we could just charge a toll on the highways leading into town from carver county then to pay for some of the upkeep of the roads that’s paid for locally, but they still drive on.

Wayno we do not agree on much but toll roads, if they go to roads and nothing else, I fully agree with you on. You have to pay to play.
