YouRankIt is a web site that makes it easier for people to find the best content and ideas on the internet. Unlike traditional search engines, we filter and sort our results using the stated preferences of people, not algorithms. Searches can be easier and more fruitful because people contextualize and prioritize the results in ways that make sense to other people.
Everything on YouRankIt – the topics, the content related to topics, and the votes that sort the content – is all submitted and performed by people. And it’s created, in part, by MnSpeak’s own Matt.

I don’t trust people. I trust Algoreithms.

You called?

I vote down your spelling of algorithms, kevin.

Ugh. Thank you, anonymous commentor. Matt did not ask me to link to the site, and I myself have nothing to do with the creation or operation of YouRankIt. I linked to it because MnSpeak typically links to sites like this.

DIGG, DUG, already been done.

Max, I’m starting to think maybe you should start taking bribes to shill and link. Sure it’s unethical and could hurt your credibility, but owning your own tropical island could help you heal.

In any type of software or web service, there are typically thee entrants that matter the most:
1) The first one
2) The best one
3) The free one
Since all other ranking sites are free, that eliminates that option. We know it’s not the first, and I fail to see why YouRankIt is better than Reddit, Digg, StumbleUpon, Del.icio.us, etc etc…

How do you suggest a topic to rank? Matt, testify?

I’m not sure I trust the ranking of anything from the lowest common denominator, the general public.
Arby’s has the best roast beef sandwich.
Fuck that McDonalds makes the best fucking nuggets.
I really like my Saturn, it’s at least as good as a BMW.
and the Piece dela Resistance?
My Two Dads!
This odious chunk of excrement has been on the top of the rating for years now.

Oh jesus after checking out the site I didn’t realize it was aimed at Tweens.

Did you link up Cullect.com, another local site (although not a Bartel property) that does essentially the same thing, but better?
6:26 pm
I’ve never heard of Cullect. Have they even contacted us?
8:30 pm
Anybody who would like to see something linked on MnSpeak can submit a post about it, correct? I thought that was how this worked.
So why are people bitching?
10:29 pm
Enh, Cullect isn’t a destination site so much as it’s web-based software. A tool. A utility.
It is pretty neat, though. And throwing a launch party ain’t really Garrick’s style.
