I’m just going to turn the comments here in my blog-like rant for the day before I’m exiled to the suburbs for the rest of my workday, never to comment again.

So, the U is raising a stink now that no one is paying enough attention to routing the line further north, through dinkytown. Maybe they should have fucking thought of that before they plopped a stadium down without even THINKING to check that it might be right in the way of the tunnel (that they so desperately wanted). Whoops, you fucked the tunnel option up yourselves, guys. Now you expect everyone else to bend over backwards and possibly delay the project a year (which might kill it, mind you, thanks to inflation and rising material costs) so you can study another routing?

Fuck the U, seriously. Next time think to check how a giant stadium you don’t need might impact other projects coming up.

Honestly, I’d probably find the dinkytown alignment more useful personally, but the campus itself is much much better served by any alignment on washington and not dinkytown. I can’t figure out what the fuck is wrong with some of these administrative assholes at the U.

Wayne, TCF paid good money for PowerLine Stadium, and should be able to build it wherever they want to…

How long was this tunnel supposed to be? I thought it was just going to be under the stretch of Washington that goes through campus. Perhaps I’m confused with the plan to run on Washington street-level.

Was the tunnel supposed to run all the way from the stadium area to the river at Washington? No wonder it would have been so expensive!

it was supposed to come above ground just about where the eastern side of the stadium is being built right now.

oopsie! so they would have had to extend it another 100 or 200 feet and realign it, which would have added a bunch to the cost.

I’m going to rule Wayne’s comment on light-rail and football stadiums germane to the Local Blogging thread, but barely, because the second link does concern construction, which is at the jist of Wayne’s comment.
