My parent's neighbor's house (in Fargo) got struck by lightning. Ham radio antenna now has two 90 degree bends in it, Punched a hole through the garage roof, blew sheet rock off the ceiling, blew a water valve off in the basement, made a crack in the center of the driveway, and blew a chunk of sidewalk apart as it followed the rebar in the concrete. My dad saw the strike, and said there was a two story high mushroom of smoke.

The antenna was put in by a previous owner, and the current owners aren't radio people, so I wouldn't be shocked if the antenna ground was somehow disconnected.

Wasn't there a house here in the metro area that got hit yesterday too?
My favorite part of that story:

A neighbor called police, and officers went to the home at 890 Margaret St., where they talked to the homeowner, Pha Xiong. He said nobody was fighting chickens inside, police said.

Then the roosters crowed.

Nosy neighbors. Perhaps the men were holding a midnight chicken playdate. Did they think of that? Probably not.
