Can't be more predictable than yankees.
Enh, at least some good came out of it. Eventually.
If Hardy can find his form from two years ago it will be a fantastic trade. Go-go was at best a defensive center fielder. If he could have learne...
I agree. The Yankees are boringly predictable.
This is why the Twins are the Twins and the Yankees are the Yankees. Let's see, should we go for Hardy or Teixera? Hmmm.
I tink peraps it is te curc of Crist, Marybet414.
If I can c(h)ime in...I left the 'H' behind years ago and indeed there is no better way. The church of Crist... Bless you all.
I like the guy, but I have to admit he was a bit disappointing.
Just about every time we went to a game at the dome, you'd hear "fans" (quote marks emphasized) trashing GoGo loudly, which made me want to stand ...

Me, I prefer local righty tighties Anti-Strib, Lake Minnetonka Liberty and their own version of MNspeak (through the Looking Glass and Down the Rabbit Hole), True North.
Both Lileks and Powerline are a little too liberal for my tastes.

I’m always amused when leftist tools refer to right-wingers as stupid. But not so amused that I waste any more time reading their drivel.
7:17 am
I’m glad you prefer to waste your time here, maz. MNspeak wouldn’t be the same without you.
7:29 am
MNspeak: fair and balanced drivel.
12:21 pm
Oh, Roy has my number. This week Ive been writing about old main street postcards, a Cagney movie and the graphic style of an Edward G. Robinson trailer. The usual old festival of madness.
12:22 pm
It’s about time someone called you out on your right wing interest in old crime films, James.
12:41 pm
Mother of God! Is this the end of Lileks???
12:46 pm
Maz, from John Stuart Mill: Conservatives are not necessarily stupid, but most stupid people are conservatives.
12:47 pm
Please don’t prod the rattlesnake.
8:15 pm
I think they are selling you short, James.
You are obviously WAY more Evil than Stupid. (70/30)
Just like Mazaspaza. (99/1)
8:57 pm
Rainy makes a valid point. The left has always characterized us as evil, while we have always characterized the left as stupid.
Fair enough.
It shows an appalling lack of historical precedent to attempt to use both characterizations against the right. Thanks for setting the hack straight, rainy.

Does it ever occur to you that comments like the most recent might simply debase the national debate and make bipartisan checks and balances impossible, despite the fact that both sides are clearly capable of enormous stupidity? That behaving as though politics were some sort of end-time battle between right and wrong actually poisons our ability to find common solutions? Or do you think reducing complex political viewpoints down to swift-boat style insults is actually good for dialogue?
The only problem with the Village Voice was that it didn’t focus a similar lens on the left-wing blogosphere, which can be as partisan and idiotic an echo chamber as the right-wing blogosphere. Neither contribute, in general, much more than noise. Like several of the commenters on this site, speaking from opposite side of the fence.
9:07 pm
uh …. you posted the topic, Max. We all just comment on it. Isn’t that what you want us to do?
9:07 pm
The left has always characterized us as evil,
And the right calls the other side immoral and unpatriotic. Probably cowardly, and in your case no possessing some essential, mystical warrior spirit.
So, there ya’ have it.
9:10 pm
We all just comment on it.
No, honestly, shame on you. Endlessly turning what is, in general, a very nice site into a sounding board for your seething intolerance for any viewpoint except your own, and using any pretext, no matter how flimsy, as an excuse for insults.
Some people grow up at some point and stop being colossal bores. Maybe one day you’ll get there.
9:10 pm
Come on, Rat. Can’t ya take a joke?
9:15 pm
My comments go for raindog too.
9:18 pm
I should do better, Maz.
9:18 pm
It’s become quite obvious that you, Max, have no interest or tolerance whatsoever in reading world views that differ from your own. I know for a fact that’s why bobby_b doesn’t hang out here anymore.
I still think it’s fun to hang out here because I enjoy the give and take with those who don’t take themselves so seriously. Like Rat and Grote and Jeff and Nate and Kurtis … and even Raindog. Especially Raindog. I don’t even complain when you delete my comments … as innocuous as they may be. So what?
But if you want me to stay away, just say so and I won’t darken your doorway ever again. Promise.
9:23 pm
And it’s not even christmas!
How is spouting snide remarks about people’s intelligence as it relates to thier political affiliations offering a differing opinion?
You like to stir shit, just admit it.
9:25 pm
BTW, I did enjoy your foray into the discussion on child pornography even though it differed from my own opinion. Just a thought.
9:26 pm
That’s a weak card to play, Maz, and Bobby was never able to back up his assertions. And my politics are probably quite close to Raindog’s, but I find her behavior on the site to be equally odious.
The problem, as you refuse to understand, is that you don’t come to the table as an honest broker, as you have repeatedly demonstrated and admitted. It’s one thing to argue your political viewpoints. I disagree with them, but go ahead and make your case. It’s another thing to endless yammer on about how liberals are like this inane stereotype while conservatives are like that inane stereotype. And it’s another thing altogether to inject that into every discussion, no matter what the topic. That’s what I’m complaining about, and if you can’t reign in that sort of behavior, maybe you should find a site more to your tastes. The Web is littered with discussion forums where the subject of the idiocy of liberals is endlessly and joyously discussed.
9:28 pm
Fine. You’ve had the last word.
9:29 pm
You’ll notice I objected to none of Maz’s comments in that thread, Alie.
9:41 pm
I did, Max.
And not to beat a dead horse, but Kevin frequently argues the conservative point of view in a constructive and on topic manner.
9:42 pm
I rest my case.
9:44 pm
And I have to agree with Alie here: Kevin and a Dead Horse are very comparable.
(That’s what she said!)
9:48 pm
Ugh.
9:50 pm
Do you give any thought to the possibility you might be making really ugly, personal comments, Raindog?
9:58 pm
Please don’t prod the rattlesnake.
I tried telling her that, but she just kept prodding.
And not to beat a dead horse, but Kevin frequently argues the conservative point of view in a constructive and on topic manner.
Just because I have a cold, dead heart doesn’t make me a horse.
But to the topic at hand, I think MDE is definitely the most influential political blog in this state and I’d be surprised if there’s another one in the hole country that is as widely read by everyone who’s anyone in state politics. Some of its stuff turns out to be pretty big (Entenza) or (baffilingly) not so big (Ritchie, Dittrich) and he may be onto another one with the screw ups in the transportation bill.
10:01 pm
I do think the horse’s head scene in The Godfather is one of the greatest scense of all time.
10:07 pm
?
I meant it as a compliment!
And I have to agree with you on the Godfadda there, Kev.
You see? There you have it.
Common ground.
LET’S FUCK!
10:10 pm
Well, that ended well.
10:17 pm
I don’t know what’s going on, here.
10:18 pm
OMG, dogs and cats living together, MASS HYSTERIA!
/hold me…
10:34 pm
You seemed to have chased off one dog, cat.
But it’s nothing to be proud of IMHO.
10:37 pm
I don’t think I’ve chased anyone off, I was merely making a comment about rainy wanting to ride kevie’s baloney pony…hence the Ghostbuster’s reference.
10:42 pm
Like I said, I don’t know what’s going on here, I’m a simple guy.
10:47 pm
This post should be renamed “All the critics love u baloney pony”
10:52 pm
Great, now I’ve got the words “Kevin” and “baloney pony” mushed in my head. Not a good thing.
10:57 pm
Kevin’s baloney pony should NOT be mushed in your head!
10:58 pm
Definitely not kosher, Max.
11:02 pm
I’m wondering, should it technically be “Balogna Pony?”
11:47 pm
Several MNSpeakers should share some sort of NSF grant/Nobel prize in medicine because y’all have managed to do what was previously thought of as impossible: beat a dead horse back to life, pummel (sp?) it to death and then revive it again by kicking the shit out of it.
The overwhelming majority of MNSpeak should also share some sort of NSFW grant.
Also, I’m sad that it appears that I take myself more seriously than grote AND raindog (et al). Raindog? Raindog is totally a SINO – Silly In Name Only. This will not stand! I declare a pun war!
Wait, does that make me more or less serious? It doesn’t matter. I just don’t have any punny in me tonight.
Le sigh.
7:33 am
I don’t think I’ve chased anyone off, I was merely making a comment about rainy wanting to ride kevie’s baloney pony…hence the Ghostbuster’s reference.
Just because I have a cold, dead erogenous zone doesn’t mean it has the same properties as baloney.
