I heard the radio spot (fake newscast) on the Ely Sold To Canada gag this am. It’s pretty good. I wonder if there will be a “War of the Worlds” reaction from with people who think it’s for real….
11:33 am
by all means, take it.
12:44 pm
My favorite thing about today’s news is that I’m not really sure which one is the fake story.

God, the Star Tribune writers are such nerds. They even have to give away the joke in the title.
Let it ride, Star Tribune. If your main demographic get a heart attacks from reading your April Fools articles, well…they were practically dead anyway.
1:09 pm
I agree Amber. That sucked. If you’re not willing to put up with a bunch of angry calls, don’t bother doing April Fools stuff at all.
1:22 pm
The strib article wasn’t a joke, it was a story about a joke.
1:31 pm
I hope the loon story is true I like animals.
1:31 pm
The Strib article is actually a snippet of an article in the first paper I read every morning, the Mesabi Daily News.
Talked to my mom this morning, and I fear she may be getting old…I had to convince her it wasn’t real.

You can’t sell a whole town to Canada. Sillies.
1:57 pm
Nonsesne. I sold the town of Grand Forks to a couple of ‘Peggers once for $20 and a bottle of Seagrams.
Suckers.

Judy Garland is spinning in her grave.
2:04 pm
Nevermind that would be Grand Rapids.
Delete! Delete!

I believe The Angle has declaired its independence on more than one occation…

Judy Garland is spinning in her grave.
But mostly from withdrawal symptoms.

$1.8 million? “Teacher sold students on literature – and crack”
Just kidding, of course. And I am happy for my fellow loons.
I may not have mentioned that besides being English and Zimbabwean, I also happen to be 1/8th loon, and so may be entitled to some of this money.
2:07 pm
Still rollin’ after all these years?
2:26 pm
Doesn’t matter, “uh”. The headline was still totally lame. Oh wait…the headline of the story that was a joke of a story that supposed to be a joke was still totally lame.

I don’t know where else to put this, but

Dear USI Wireless:
The City of Minneapolis Wireless Network is scheduled to be completed in March, 2008.
WELL IT’S APRIL NOW. WHERE’S MY WIRELESS?
I’m sick and tired of Comcast and you’re not making this easy on me. I’ve seen your equipment hanging on the pole outside my window for a month or more now. I even saw an SSID when I booted up my laptop that said “USI Wireless-Coming Soon.”
Now I don’t even see that. What the hell, people. Turn that shit on and give me some service. I’m tired of paying comcast.
Also, not that I’m a fan of visiting uptown much, but considering I’m thinking about purchasing a MID/tiny notebook to carry around with me when I bike this summer, I’d really appreciate it if you’d figure out how to finish your network around there too. I like the idea of a roaming account in addition to my home account, but it’s pretty useless if it doesn’t cover one of the few parts of town I might visit.
Get your act together. No wonder other cities are abandoning their wifi networks, if they’re anything like you for meeting deadlines and getting coverage in place.
3:32 pm
Amber -
We think your lame. And our headline is so lame its awesome.
3:35 pm
I think the real Strib Staff writers would know the difference between “you’re” and “your.”
3:40 pm
Not to mention “its” and “it’s”.
Although these days, they might not.
3:41 pm
Thats what editors are for, Sparber.
3:50 pm
…but considering I’m thinking about purchasing a MID/tiny notebook to carry around with me when I bike this summer,…
You want something larger to cushion your fall when you get hit by a car. If I had had my iBook in my bag, it might have save me a couple of trips to the PT.
5:30 pm
Why sell to Canada when you can set yourself up as a anarco-sydicalist commune?
The USI Wireless network seems to have any number of issues. The limited bandwidth is a big one. Jeremy Q. Afterglide offers much faster downloads than municipal wireless. Especially right after lunch.
5:55 pm
The lady who donated the money to the loons is truly awesome.
I hope that I may do something of similar nature during my lifetime.
Yay, saving animals and environment, uhhh people not so much.
