What happened to Rotisseria???

My guess is that the redevelopment of Calhoun Square is the culprit.

That is true, they were asked to leave for the redevelopment. That place was amazing, the owner was a gem, and the homemade hot sauce was excellent.

:( any word on re-openings?

see this Strib article for more info.

If they were smart they would regroup with a slightly more upscale environment…they could make a killing. Slide into the Punch Pizza niche slightly below casual dining and above fast food.

thanks Bob. Does anyone know if they have another location on Lake and Bloomington?

I thought the Lake/Bloomington location was still open.

I heard My-T-Fine on Bryant is closed too. Say it ain’t so!

I liked Passage to India a lot. The story didn’t say where it was going. Hopefully not too far, though. Uptown needs a variety of Indian joints.

Hookah Ban. where? Glassland has Hookah parties all the time.

Noooo! And just to clarify: This isn’t the place at Lake Calhoun. And it is not connected in any way to that Rotisseria. This is a lovely little gem at Lake and Bloomington that serves some of the best chicken in town. I am horribly sad that it has been shuttered. This was one of the best places in town for cheap eats.

Too bad!! We would get their chicken take out dinners…Their homemade hot sauce (green) was unlike anything else in town. Hope they find a new spot in Uptown…

Wait…I only saw the pic of the dude. He is the owner of the store on Lake and Bloomington, too. What in the world? Whenever I call there I am reminded that “they are the different one.”

I live by the Lake/Bloomington Rotisseria. Several folks have commented to be about the owner and what a stand up guy he is. I have gone into Rotisseria (Lake/Bloomington) several times. Each time I went in it appeared as if there was no business. There were a couple of chickens, but there were few sides prepared. I stopped going because although i want to support local businesses, this place always gave me the creeps.

It seemed like a front for something unsavory because there didn’t appear to be a lot of chicken business. I don’t know how it remains open.

Quote of the Day!

The place at bloomington and lake is the same thing; however, there isn’t pizza or gyros. The same man owns it and they use the same signage.

^ for sara… I think they didn’t think things through when they opened. No one goes and it just seems that they might be losing money. I have been several times and the food is always delicious; it’s just aesthetically displeasing.

please support it… I don’t want it to close too.

I go to the one at Lake and Bloomington sometimes too, and yeah, it’s always empty. Which is a shame because they roast a damn fine bird, and the owner (pictured on the CP link) seems like a good guy.

Yeah, it’s a little creepy and the location’s not great, but support it folks! Get takeout. It’s about 1000 times better than rotiserrie chicken from Cub or wherever.

The best chicken in the world, period. I’m glad I got a half chicken dinner a couple weeks ago…oh and merciful heavens don’t get me started on that green sauce!

I have so many delicious memories with their savory chicken. Calhoun Sq. will be getting a letter from me!

I am devastated and I don’t know how I missed that article in the Strib! Not only did Rotisseria have the best chicken in the area but Passage to India has the most awesome, cheap, delectable buffet that I’ve ever been to! Where can I possibly go to find such succulent Tandoori chicken, beriani, and the most perfect garlic Naan that I’ve ever had in my life? Uptown is losing with the loss of these two restaurants. Uptown is really, really losing.

There’s a reason that chicken was so good… and it wasn’t the marinade…

Riely11, I’m with you on Passage to India….

It’s so.

Read the “we’re closed thanks for your business” sign on the door
yesterday…a group of women opened it then something happened…
maybe the reality check that a restaurant is a 24.7.365 business
with NO OTHER LIFE permitted…

or maybe they fought over whose cuisine or ideas were best…

Anywho they sold it to one lone gal…who kept reducing the hours…
that DARN LIFE thing probably intruded…or maybe the pesky employees
actually wanted a reasonable salary or health insurance…gasp

And now it’s finally tanked like every other deli etc. that’s been
at that location.
