Dessa takes over trivia at Nomad

Went to one of her science trivia nights. Was so unimpressed it hurt. Once you’ve been to a Cosgrove trivia session, everyone else seems like a sad, rank amateur.

I enjoy her in concert but wish she would put out a new record (unless she has, already, in which case I’m behind the times).

Cosgrove trivia session? Where, when?

I love trivia and am so bummed that the old emcee, Chris, isn’t going to be doing it anymore!

I heard the 331 is good, but I’ve never been… Anyone have a recommendation?

So, how do these trivia things work? They sound interesting, but I’ve never done one. And, as far as I’ve been able to tell, I wouldn’t be able to participate.

mnblrmkr- you may be able to do the trivia nights at The Park Tavern. They display the question on TV’s and you answer with one of those remote consoles.

You might even have an advantage, as you wouldn’t be distracted by your friends shouting out the wrong answers.

Isn’t that just NTN?

How do the other places do it? I was under the impression these were along the lines of “jeopardy” or academic quiz bowl style.

I’ve been thinking about checking out the Nomad’s trivia, though I’m loathe to abandon my regulars (and the cranky bartender) at the Dubliner on Sundays! Still, guess it’s worth a shot, though the “underwhelming” comments above leave me a bit nervous. I like my trivia challenging, though not impossible, and definitely not easy.

mnblrmkr- It is probably different at different bars, but at Tracy’s you are on a team up to 8 people. The question is asked, then you get some time to confer with your friends. As long as you go with people how can help you out, you should be able to participate. It is fun, but I don’t do it every week because I need to be in bed by 10:00 usually.

sorry but i hate trivia at Brit’s, no prizes. I was at the nomad last week and thought Dessa was fun, but it went too slowly cause she kept talking and the questions kinda sucked. it would’ve been more fun if she hosted just some sort of Dessa-talks-all-night night.

Not true, I have a few double XL beer tshirts won at Brit’s trivia.

(They have prizes, I didn’t say they were awesome.)

I would be there but I am not 21 yet and Nomad has started getting card-y since this summer. I have some friends who regularly go, though.

My boyfriend was there the first week she took over, and he said she was annoying and her questions sucked/were too easy. He was very bothered by her answer to “what does DOS stand for” (Disc Operating System). Apparently, she “had heard” it stood for Dirty Operating System.

Hmmmm. Am I the only one who finds it odd and maybe upsetting that this is a post that describes a working-class artist-musician as someone who sucks? In the comments, that sort of thing is expected, but not so much in a post on teh main page.

That’s not what it says.

Not that it makes her any less of a relevant hip hop artist, but I would hardly describe Dessa as working class.
