Considering I know a little more about the deal than some (just so happens my uncle is the contractor on this job) th neighbor is more than willing to work with Keillor, but he is being the normal liberal wank he always is. He's a talented writter, I'll give him that, BUT, seriously, he is being like a 4yr old that had his toy taken away or somthing. The deal is, his lawyer was notified about the addition, but dropped the ball, and Keillor found out about it to late. I guess he is too good to read his own mail and that any legal stuff goes through his lawyer. Still, its his own fault! The neighbors did all that they should have had to do to do what they want on THIER OWN land! I guess Keillor wouldnt even talk to or look at his neighbor through the meeting with the Judge.

In Keillor's defense, I doubt used up his whole lot at all. It likely happened before he was born. Unlike the garage in progress.

Still, he should lighten up.
Looks like poor Gary used up his whole lot for his house and now feels the need to make sure the neighbor doesnt do the same.
Well, it's been a less-than-quiet week in Lake Woebegone. It started with the usual seasonal whimsy which had settled on the neighborhood with the snow stories about a Godly woman who found herself compelled to wolf-whistle loudly whenever she saw a grain elevator, or a melancholic Lutheran who took mercy on the Christmas turkey and trained it instead to fetch his slippers, or a fruity actor who had been given a big golden award for playing to stereotypes.

But a cold front had moved in, like unwelcome occupants in a next-door house. Worse than that, the sound of construction tore holes in the quiet meditations of the goodly citizens of the lake, like the headaches induced by electric tools that Lars had once bought in Norway as an experiment.

And what was being built on the lakeside, you ask? It was a hideous and self-indulgent mess, sprawling and pointless like some horrible digression in a story that lasted for paragraphs, meandering on and on without ever getting to the conclusion, only to stress and re-stress the same point in slightly different ways, punctuated by smug little homilies and asides.

Inga was reminded of her sainted grandmother, who once observed that bad neighbors were much like the smell of newly harvested lutefisk, pervasive and almost impossible to get rid of.
from what I can see, the addition would block Keillor's view of a 4-story apartment building on Arundel and Holly.

Looks like they're going to mediation. Goodness, the neighbors sure come across as reasonable people.

How typical of the precious, wealthy, Minnesota lefty - "I got mine; the rest of you can go screw yourself."

You could truncate that to just the wealthy, as I like a little class war now and again. But really that attitude is a pretty typical boomer attitude, look at their track record for stewardship.

As a St. Paul guy and longtime observer of Summit/Ramsey Hill douchebaggery, I am not surprised to see this rear its head.

If Gary & his trophy wife feel entitled to the space in their neighbor's yard, they should make an offer on the property. If they are afraid of structure density, they picked the wrong neighborhood in the first place. A garage blocks you "access to air?" Jeez, get over yourself.

Anderson and Olson received a zoning variance for a 23-foot rear-yard setback rather than the standard 25 feet and conditional approval from the Heritage Preservation Commission, pending final approval of the plans.

Looks like Anderson/Olson are going throught the proper channels and Mr. Mansion is pitching his fit late in the game. How typical of the precious, wealthy, Minnesota lefty - "I got mine; the rest of you can go screw yourself."

That would be totally bitching! I love Whittier.

They got their variance.

Now let's see if they (well, Huy Fong) can get the necessary money. You'll notice that Sinbad left in November (perhaps bankrupt, sadly) and the weird jewelry store moved across the street.
