I agree. The Yankees are boringly predictable.
This is why the Twins are the Twins and the Yankees are the Yankees. Let's see, should we go for Hardy or Teixera? Hmmm.

Just about every time we went to a game at the dome, you'd hear "fans" (quote marks emphasized) trashing GoGo loudly, which made me want to stand ...

Ooh, ish! I never want to hear any more about bambi mori abusers. (shudders)
8:37 am
I-34W? Just checking.
The creepy creeps in the boundary waters are banned for 3 years? Great, now they’ll take their creepy show on the road to harrass other unsuspecting campers. I hear dueling banjos playing in the background.
Ok, dead deer dude? He needs far more than a jail can give him. Eew.
8:44 am
I dont’ know want to think about that!

Do you know that the original Greek concept of “hubris” was any act that humiliated an opponent, therefore lifting you up. Among these was “molestation of a corpse,” as demonstrated by Achilles’ treatment of Hector’s corpse.
So I suppose having sex with a deer could be seen as an act of hubris.
9:06 am
A corpse is bad enough, but a dead animal?
The Greeks had no self-control. If, as you say, his deed was an act of hubris, he cound have stopped at just verbally abusing the deer to make it feel bad about itself.
9:08 am
cound = could
bad = badly
I need more caffeine.

Boundry Waters: Seems they picked the two guys that had done the least (the they could prove) and had them cop a plea in exchange for testifying against everyone else. We will see some serious jail time for some of the others I am sure.
9:15 am
mmmmmmm…..venison jerky.
9:20 am
I’m just not going north of 694 ever again.
9:26 am
I can’t believe that someone decided to have sex with the deer humper.
So what do you like?
Long walks on the beach, quiet dinners at a nice restaurant, sex with deer . . .
9:33 am
Inre: Downtown Shopping: I know I’m only one person, but I bought three suits at Nate’s Clothing downtown. Now that they’re moving, I won’t drive to where ever they are to get another one.
Glad to see Brooks Brothers opened up in City Center. I’ll go there.

But that still fails to explain why Dick Cheney shot his friend in the face.

Sexy Stud: We’re doing it the resturant?
Randal Graves: What, not spacious enough?
Sexy Stud: It’s plenty spacious, just a little… weird.
Randal Graves: [bewildered] Dude, you’re in the bestiality business.
Sexy Stud: Hey, Fucko, we like to call it inter-species erotica.
Randal Graves: Intriguing.

I just threw up a little….
glad I keep a toothbrush handy in my desk…

I guess the worst part about is that he got LYME disease.
10:50 am
I have to wonder if the deer sex resulted from a bet, a dare or a few days of heavy drinking.
10:54 am
I don’t have any trouble not wondering about deer sex.
11:36 am
Isn’t sex with a dead deer a victimless crime? Just sayin’.
11:43 am
At least it wasn’t a water buffalo.
Eeek!

Borders, Williams Sonoma, Crate and Barrel. They’re some of the retailers that have recently announced their exit from downtown Minneapolis.
I’m so glad Mpls. spent money on block E. The market at work. Good job mpls on such fine spending of the taxpayers money. I think they have another mess on Lake street too. Next legislative session they will be crying for more money from the state and complaining that the state has cut their funding.
12:50 pm
I liked how the biggest compliment came from a family from California. That’s a dependable customer base right there.
1:24 pm
At least it wasn’t a water buffalo.
Amen.
3:24 pm
I’m so glad Mpls. spent money on block E. The market at work.
Only one of those retailers were in Block E. And there’s another Border’s about 2 blocks away. Border’s is hurting anyway. Losing tons of money. So in that case, it probably is the market at work.
3:42 pm
“Borders, Williams Sonoma, Crate and Barrel. They’re some of the retailers that have recently announced their exit from downtown Minneapolis. “
good thing those retailers aren’t exposed to any external market forces like say….the lagging housing market or the exodus from traditional media to the webernet.
I agree the lake street upgrade is a complete mess. With the snow piled up against the curb they have effectively turned lake street into a two lane road.
They need to actually truck the snow banks out of town…that sounds cheap…

I was too. The Crown Theater there finally gave me the ability to see movies. Two whole options a week.
3:49 pm
Many indications are the overall national economy is getting soft. These closings could be signs of a weakening economy.
3:50 pm
It’s actually the Kerasotes Block E Theater
3:57 pm
Well, it was Crown until Sept. And it was still the only place I could go to see movies.
4:09 pm

Amen. One pass down each side early on a Sunday morning would do the trick.

Yes the national economy is getting weak. However, the weakest go first and it is downtown mpls that seems the weakest of them all. The city has a gimmick for everything. Their down town programs are a joke. How is the old city center fairing these day no open retail space in that mess. My point is that the city council of mpls is an a bunch of financial morons that don’t have a clue. The only thing they can do is complain that the state does not fund them, while they spend money foolishly. Cut the funding more, then the city would not be able to screw the taxpayer.
I was too. The Crown Theater there finally gave me the ability to see movies. Two whole options a week
I’m so glad that the taxpayer got to subsidize your entertainment.
5:14 pm
However, the weakest go first and it is downtown mpls that seems the weakest of them all.
In order to say that accurately you’d have to have supporting evidence from other cities.
I don’t know if you read the whole MPR piece, but retail occupancy is running about 8.5 percent. A little more than average, but that hardly makes downtown some kind of Dogpatch. On the main, the story said downtown fares better than most large cities. And there’s hope for the future because of all the housing that is opening and being built.
5:36 pm
I’m so glad that the taxpayer got to subsidize your entertainment.
All about equality.
The market sure the hell wasn’t doing the job.
5:53 pm
The market sure the hell wasn’t doing the job.
Sure it was. It was telling us that we don’t need that theater.
6:06 pm
Sure it was. It was telling us that we don’t need that theater.
We certainly did. Prior to Block E, the deaf and hard of hearing had no options for seeing movies. And we still need it: Even with Block E, there are only 4 screens in the entire metro area with captioning.
And Rat, do you mean 8.5% vacancy rates? Because an 8.5% occupancy would seem to be a bit of a ghost town to me.
6:19 pm
8.5 Vacancy. That’s right.
“the deaf and hard of hearing had no options for seeing movies.”
What was the attendance rate for the movies?
6:28 pm
I don’t think we built block e just so the deaf and hard-of-hearing could have a movie theatre.

“the deaf and hard of hearing had no options for seeing movies.”
What was the attendance rate for the movies?
I assume that prior to Block E, attendance rate at movies for the Deaf/HOH was near 0. I don’t know what it is now. It’s probably much lower than it would be if we had options.
I don’t think we built block e just so the deaf and hard-of-hearing could have a movie theatre.
No, but they did want a multiplex. I suspect that accessibility was included as a requirement.
