Can't be more predictable than yankees.
Enh, at least some good came out of it. Eventually.
If Hardy can find his form from two years ago it will be a fantastic trade. Go-go was at best a defensive center fielder. If he could have learne...
I agree. The Yankees are boringly predictable.
This is why the Twins are the Twins and the Yankees are the Yankees. Let's see, should we go for Hardy or Teixera? Hmmm.
I tink peraps it is te curc of Crist, Marybet414.
If I can c(h)ime in...I left the 'H' behind years ago and indeed there is no better way. The church of Crist... Bless you all.
I like the guy, but I have to admit he was a bit disappointing.
Just about every time we went to a game at the dome, you'd hear "fans" (quote marks emphasized) trashing GoGo loudly, which made me want to stand ...

that sounds like a great idea! If only my neighborhood wasn’t what they call ‘transitional’, i might see some money in this as well.

Smart conventioneers should be hitting all the vacation-rental-by-owner websites pretty hard.
Downtown St. Paul is chock-full of condos for sale that are sitting empty, so their owners would be smart to rent them out. Republicans are generally pretty well-heeled, and I think you could squeeze a few month’s mortgage payments out of them if you played your cards right!

Where’s this “tolerance” liberals are always preaching about. Guess it doen’t apply unless you belive in the same things the do & how is that tolerant…..hmmmmm. Why not focus on the good side of how this will help St. Paul instead of “speewing hate”!
4:38 pm
And here I was just trying make fun of the CL poster’s ridiculous price…
5:13 pm
“Speewing hate”? Is that a new political persuasion? Is it somewhere betwixt leftwing and rightwing hate? If so, then guilty as charged!
5:18 pm
Hell, I’ll rent out my 1 bedroom apartment less than a mile from Xcel for 1/5 of that price. I can’t do limo service, though.
5:18 pm
G girl, I would love it if you would point to a single instance of liberals claiming we must tolerate all things at all times.
5:29 pm
Seriously, even if you put 10 people in this (2000sqft) house for 7 days, the cost per person, per day is still over $200.
I’d like to see what kinda limo they’re providing… is it a stretch hummer? Maybe somebody could sleep in there too then.
6:55 pm
After looking around CL I can see that lots of other people are looking to rent out their houses/apts during the convention too, for OUTRAGEOUSLY inflated prices!
Check it out.
8:49 pm
Whoa.
1:05 pm
Maybe the city of Saint Paul should give a discount to all GOP convention supports to stay a couple of nights in affordable housing units in downtown instead.
4:23 pm
My dad was thinking about renting out our house, but then he decided against it because he figured we might get bombed by the anarchists.
6:17 pm
Good point msparber. Liberals don’t tolerate smoking, driving, keeping what one earns, school choice, winning wars, balanced news, eating meat, big houses, keeping criminals (and terrorists) locked up, or anything that has anything to do with free markets.
You go g girl.
7:19 pm
Yawn, part 2. Come back to MNspeak when you can do better, bartbrett. Right wing baitcasters, we already got. What new do YOU bring to this forum? If the answer is nothing — and I suspect it is — chum elsewhere, chum.
7:24 pm
I don’t think these are that outlandish. Convention delegats may only be here for a few days, but a lot of people will be here for weeks.
7:53 pm
Actually, I have been seriouly suggesting we rent out office space to a media outlet covering the RNC. Our location is hard to beat — close enough to be at the X in minutes, yet far enough out of the “security zone” to work and travel unhampered, with both St. Paul domes — church and state — as backdrops.
7:53 pm
Hey pbob, good come-back. There is soooo much to offer in your big time slam. I forgot one, you don’t tolerate conservatives.
8:49 pm
Is there something you have to offer besides tired cliches about liberals, bartbrett?
8:52 pm
I want to make clear that those domes are completely separate.
Hey Bobo, what was that insulated curtains place called? I forget.
9:57 pm
So I take it hsu agree. Tell me – what is that “all things at all times” debating 101 cliche adding?
10:15 pm
Nothing. I’m not interesting in people spouting any sort of cliches here, liberal or conservatives. There’s too much “liberals are like this, conservatives are like this” pissing going on on this site, generally unrelated to the actual conversation at hand, and certainly contributing nothing to it.
10:17 pm
go to expedia or hotels.com and see if you can get a room over Labor Day 2008 anywhere in the Cities. there are still a few properties (red roofs in particular) that have not caught on to the gouging potential during RNC, but for the most part, those who have not contracted 100% to the RNC are asking for a hefty price…i.e. Amerisuites @ the Mall asking $289 for a standard room. well placed homes (Cathedral Hill, esp.) will rent for huge money that week.
7:55 am
“…you don’t tolerate conservatives.”
To paraphrase Bogart’s line in Cassablanca regarding Peter Lorre, “I don’t necissarily object to conservatives, I object to bush league ones.”
Unless you can offer something that goes beyond the wit and wisdom of a typical Anti-Strib blog post, you’re going to get ignored on this site, bartbrett. As max said, conservative viewpoints are welcome — including a fair amount of humor and snark — and make this forum a better place. Just baiting people with partisan idiocy is not so welcome here — we already have several on right and left who do this on a regular basis. One more troll is neither needed nor welcome.
That said, I hope you can raise the level of your game and remain a commentor. Look to bobby b and kevin as good examples (usually) on how to engage others and share your point of view on MNspeak. Even bombthrowers like maz and raindog add a little self-effacing humor and personal anecdotes ever now and then that make them part of the MNspeak family.
So by all means, stay. But bring your best game, keep it local, and stay on topic, and we all will have a good conversation, yes?
Closed circuit to Kevin: I’ll look up the name of those energy-saving window shades and get back to you on this thread later this a.m.
Closed circuit to Chuck: Call me, dude!

Kevin, the outfit that makes the energy-efficient window treatments is Springs Window Fashions . Their motorized window shades reduce solar heat gain and energy consumption by automatically adjusting to the sun. The materials are all no-VOC (volitile organic compunds), so they don’t contribute to indoor air pollution.

Republicans will expect prostitutes to be included with the $15,000….male and female.

“Republicans will expect prostitutes to be included with the $15,000….male and female.“
As opposed to Democrats, who expect them to be provided for free?
5:53 pm
Dems just seem to be able to hook up. But you get what you pay for…

Thanks for the secret communique, Bob.
