I like Gigi’s, but don’t get the scones there. They are too dry. Also, their burritos are incredibly dissapointing.

I just read the article about Thom Pham. What a horrifying experience. The story said that six to eight men attacked him. Thankfully he wasn’t more seriously injured.

God…that is horrible. I hope Tom is ok. It doesn’t sound like they robbed the place, so it leads me to think it’s either random gang violence or revenge/retribution…maybe related to the guys he busted a few months ago. Whatever the case, above all I hope that he is ok.

That Eat Local Challenge in raw food looks good–and really hard. Last I heard, not even the Nicollet Mall Farmer’s Market really qualified as “eating local.”

Minnesota isn’t the San Joaquin Valley. You run out of choices fast.
Where can you get an orange? Grapes. Gotta give up olive oil. Drink crappy Minnesota wine?
Forget it.

I live a few blocks away from Café Ena and I’ve not been impressed with the food the two times I’ve been there. I expected more from the people that run El Meson.
Also, whenever I go by the place, I can’t help but stare at the terrible brick work on the NW corner of the building. It just looks bad. I asked a friend of mine what he thought about the place. He said he hadn’t been there yet, but immediately lamented, “pity about that shitty brick work.”
