I also agree with Rat on theft of the Buddha. Man, is karma going to do a number on them. If I don’t know the family involved, I know their clones — they used to live two doors down from us.

I’m going to keep a close eye on our neighborhood temple to insure nothing happens to their statute.

I commented in snark, but I agree totally with with the Rat & Cat. Asking people to step outside without providing them a butt bucket just invites cigarette liter. Employers, if you don’t have have a cigarette trash can in your outdoor smoking areas, please get one now. Are you listening, bars, restaurants and clubs?

Yes, some will quit after Oct. 1, but many are not yet ready. At least give them a place to properly dispose of their butts until they are ready.

As a smoker, I’d like to see more ashtrays, as well. When my work went completely smoke free (i.e. can only smoke on the sidewalk), they also disposed of the ashtrays, so, people either threw them on the ground or stubbed them out and threw them in the trash (which sometimes had started smoldering).

An answer to this could be more litter receptacles. since The Law has expelled the from the indoors and forced them to huddle outside like exiles.

But they're not smokers as much as they are litterers in this story.

I guess the best thing they could do is quit. Give up. Society has turned on you. You can't fight it anymore.

Wonder who had to count all those cigarette butts?
