I lolled at the video.

As I recall, the school progress report is always released during the state fair. I thought it was so people could visit the education building and look up their school online.

Good Grief: I think I’m the guy running on Stone Arch Bridge in the MSNBC video.

ahaha, also: craig is resigning!

The Rat can’t get a lot of satisfaction out of that. Pretty sad guy, actually.

As an AFSCME ‘protected’ employee all I can say is, “yuck.” People are tired of unionized employees striking including the majority of the employees themselves. This rally will gain nothing more than the ire of the University and the public that funds them. While the raises are nothing to jump up and down about, the AFSCME employees are keeping their jobs and they should be quite thankful for that.

Council 5 does nothing for Minnesota employees other than line its own pockets with money. In the last ten years, the union has gained little for those it covers and continues to drain the money from its members from union dues.

If anything I believe that the UM employees under that bargaining unit should strike against AFSCME and tell them to fold. The employees would be much better off bargaining individually for raises rather than being lumped in with the rest of the fools that the union protects.

I agree. Government-employed unions in this state are nothing but a total joke! They do nothing in the best interest of the public; they constantly whine and moan over the lack of money they make and thus, they come up with lame excuses to go on strike and make everyone miserable as a result. Yet, government unions in general make more damn money than either a small business owner or someone, working at a corporate headquarters.

Perhaps this is why so many people are critical against MNDOT since the agency itself had oversight knowledge of the degrading status of the highway bridges and roads, including the 35 W overpass in downtown Minneapolis that fell recently in early August.

You missed what I was saying entirely. Council 5, the AFSCME Union section, is lining its own pockets with money, not the employees that pay dues to it.

The rest of what you mention about MNDOT has nothing to do with this discussion.

You’ll always be remembered as “guy running on Stone Arch Bridge in gay bathroom sex re-inactment,” Rat.

Don’t feel too bad. For the past 10 years, KSTP-TV has been using b-roll of me coughing in a clinic waiting room. They shot it at Regions Hospital, when I was a PR guy there. I”m “sick guy,” used in just about every piece they do on the flu or colds. The guy across the street is always telling me he saw me on teevee again — as “sick guy.”

Speaking of cold, I caught a nasty one working the fair. Had a big bowl of chicken pho for lunch, feeling a little better.
