Tiny churches everywhere!

Got a couple of these in our ‘burb. My cousin Big Tony was a pastor in a homeless church for many years, but now he and his flock now have a regular manger, with a nice roof and walls everything.

As I recall, there is no record of Jesus ever preaching under a roof.

Jus saying…

Tiny churches indeed.

The coffee shop near where I work was recently purchased by some religious folk and turned into some sort of strange church/coffee shop hybrid. They did away with the wine/beer selection. Bah!

A friend attends a house church near Midtown Global Market run by a couple Bethel seminarians. He likes the book they’re studying (”Colossians Remixed”) and says it’s all very countercultural. They emphasize minimizing your environmental footprint and have a very relaxed atmosphere. And when the most people you can have come to service are who can fit in your living room, you can build a pretty good community!

@bob: Jesus had to preach under a roof at least once if folks broke through it to get to him.

I’ve been to lots of churches since I moved here. I enjoy the mega churches for their excellent speakers and wonderful bands. However, I miss the smaller to medium sized church I grew up in where you know most of the congregation. I have yet to join a group in someone’s basement but I think that would be exciting since that’s the way the early Christian church grew.
