I swear I thought it said “Anal hoarding in St. Paul.”

Gee, you forgot this interesting piece.

Hmmm. Isn’t this almost exactly what someone here (ahem) theorized was the cause yesterday? heh

I flew at the weekend, and I noticed that on all the flights I traveled on, the policy had now changed in the cabin brief to advise passengers not to congregate in the isles or near the toilets at all.

I heard a rumor that Dizzy moved to Arizona.

I also laughed wearily in immigration when I saw a very large poster which read:

It seemed hideously random. And what kind of a ruthless and determined bird smuggler manages to conceal a macaw on their persons? They’re about 3 feet tall!

Ostensibly, it’s to prevent bird flu, but I can’t help but notice that birds have their own way of getting around that doesn’t require the assistance of bird thieves. It’s not like avian flu isn’t already in the country.

the policy had now changed in the cabin brief to advise passengers not to congregate in the isles or near the toilets at all.

Hear that every once in a while when I fly. Seems to be no real standard policy. Maybe they just do it when they’re feeling suspicous. Maybe when there’s no Air Marshal on the plane.

In other words, Macy’s greatly reduced the size of future Twin Cities area landfills.

Way to go Macy’s.

Isn’t this almost exactly what someone here (ahem) theorized was the cause yesterday?

Hey, it’s just WAY too early for any of these blurbs to have any meaning. Newsies are so hungry for for info, for quotes, any little musing gets turned into “Gusset Plate Alert!!”

And I don’t say that just because these latest leaks are closer to your guess than mine.

Well, okay, maybe a little . . .

the policy had now changed in the cabin brief to advise passengers not to congregate in the isles or near the toilets at all.

I’ve asked about that. Has to do with which attendant is on the flight – some just put that in because it makes their waitressing job easier.

Bobby_b: I see – and that makes sense. I assumed it was a deliberate policy because I heard it on my domestic flight and my trans-Atlantic hop, during which the captain made the isle announcement. I just figured it was an amended cabin safety process – it makes a certain security sense, I think, as well as possibly forestalling further law suits.

Yeah, it does make some security sense, it’s just not (yet) a part of the official spiel. Plus, there are some legal issues related to the fear that people who get deep vein thrombosis after a flight will claim the airline is responsible because it discouraged the walking around that the docs recommend.

Shouldn’t the attack on the Imam count as an act of terrorism?

Wouldn’t this tank Bush’s claim of no terrorist attacks in the US in the last so many years?

In Hennepin county we burn most of our trash. Although the image of Santa Bears burning to a crisp to supply us with heat does warm my heart a little.

Shouldn’t the attack on the Imam count as an act of terrorism?

well, yea…if it wasn’t just another ploy for attention. “ok, throw the bottle at me…but not too close. this outta get us back in the headlines.” hmph.

Yeah, because that’s all there is to the job, bobby_b.

Don’t forget the FA’s main job…Creating the Illusion of Safety!

What a grotesque accusation. I suppose you also think there is a possibility that the I35W collapse was just a mucked up attempt for Minnesota to get some national attention.

Yeah, because that’s all there is to the job, bobby_b.

You do understand that what you wrote makes absolutely no sense, right?

no, but that was certainly a grotesque comparison on your part. why would you even say something like that?

I think they are roughly comparable. An imam gets attacked violently and your first suggestion is that they were simply seeking attention? Honestly.

“roughly comparable”? we have what, 6 confirmed deaths and 8 more missing from the bridge, and that’s “roughly comparable” to a bottle with chemicals thrown at 2 men that injured no one? really?

LOL at bartleby and Mpls Simpleton. In the first years, Dayton’s would give Santa Bears to food shelves to distribute. I remember complaining about how dumb they were and how much space they took up — only to have a bunch of elderly women volunteers prank me with the leftover bears. One turned up in my car. Another sat at my desk at work. The gals also arranged to have a few more given to me as gifts — one even showed up at my June birthday.
One was attacked by my cats when it got home and it served as a cat punching and clawing bag for several years. the others were stuck in a closet, forgotten for a time and then sold on eBay.
of course, when the dumb things became valuable and collectible we didn’t get any more to give to poor kids — who as I recall weren’t all that impressed, anyway

Yes, really. Both suggestions are indefensible. Unless you have some evidence that the imam plotted an attack on himself, such an accusation is utterly shameful.

Given that the imams appear to have deliberately staged the airplane fiasco for purposes of their own political ends, voicing the suspicion that they had somethiing to do with this stink-bomb, while certainly not well-documented, falls somewhat short of “shameful.”

Just like those who insisted, back when all this happened, that the poor imams were just actin’ natural and were the vics of the racist passengers . . .

there you go again, the moral compass of mnspeak.

So you do have evidence the imam plotted to attack himself. Well, I apologize. You should probably turn the evidence over to the police.

Given that the imams appear to have deliberately staged the airplane fiasco for purposes of their own political end

Ah, the popular slander. Go ahead and prove that one, Bobby; I mean prove it in a way that would be accepted by a court of law, where they would certainly be sitting right now facing prosecution if there was enough evidence against them to really make the case.

How exhausting is it to be so suspicious of people*? It must take up a lot of your time and energy.

*dare I say: people meaning non-white non-Christians?

in bobby’s defense, he is not saying that the imams staged the plane incident. he merely mentions that, “the imams appear to have deliberately staged the airplane fiasco”. the words “appear to” indicate that this is not a statement of fact, but rather just one man’s opinion…or, rather, the opinion of several men, all of whom would “APPEAR” to read PowerLine on a daily baisis and take it as teh gospel.

He’s welcome to his opinion. I just don’t share it.

Of course, if the imams are just attention seeking lunatics, I say throw the book at them. Until then, I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt.

it makes their waitressing job easier

Clear now? Jesus.

“Given that the imams appear to have deliberately staged the airplane fiasco for purposes of their own political ends, voicing the suspicion that they had somethiing to do with this stink-bomb, while certainly not well-documented, falls somewhat short of “shameful.”"

This is pretty surprising coming from bobby. He’s usually so quick to insist on such stringent levels of proof for any evidence supporting an argument or conclusion.

I parsed Bobby_b’s statement as referring to the part of the job that involves trolleys and serving people, rather than an implication that that’s all flight attendants do.

How exhausting is it to be so suspicious of people*?

prolly less exhausting than staging airline commotions, death threats, and chemical attacks.

*dare I say: people meaning non-white non-Christians?

by all means, dare away. you’d just be wrong, is all.

Clear now? Jesus.

A. I fly so often I have regular friends amongst the FA ranks, we know each other by name, we meet at the same bars in weird cities . . . meaning, I say what I say with some experience behind it. There are many aspects to what they do. They, themselves, refer to the serving of drinks and snacks as the waitressing parts of their jobs. You fastened onto that and made such a sweeping assumption on such little proof that I have to question either your sincerity, or your self-image.

B. Stop calling me Jesus.

Ah, the popular slander. Go ahead and prove that one, Bobby; I mean prove it in a way that would be accepted by a court of law, where they would certainly be sitting right now facing prosecution if there was enough evidence against them to really make the case.

Watch the imams’ civil suit. If it’s not dismissed, and actually gets to the stage of testimony coming out publicly, you’ll see what “public slander” really is.

You always defend this particular issue with some fervor, but in a way that leaves me wondering if you’ve seen all of the testimony that was made public.

Bobby,

A. Oh sorry, it wasn’t clear to me that you were quoting your FA party buds. Wow, you’re so cool!

B. Not a problem.

Bobby,

In all fairness, I just re-read your original post and I can see that you weren’t actually implying what I thought you were implying.

Sorry for the snarkiness, FA’s just have a tough job these days. (And dammit, I hate mea culpa’s!)

That you can offer them puts you ahead of most. Thanks.

(*Sarcasm*) Terrific. Bird gets immunity by the evil white man; PETA demands an external review. News at 10 PM.

Don’t yell at Bobby, the Replacements said it first-

“you ain’t nothin’ but a waitress in the sky”
