Oddly enough, those were exactly the words of the barbarian invader Ogodai Khan, shortly before stepping into the Shaolin Monastery.

Heh. One of those monks did look a bit like David Carradine.
Our neighborhood Lutheran church always holds a nice NNO event, so I might wander down. They have free hamburgers, as I recall. It is also our polling place. Nice to be in God's House while making choices on who should be in office. Neither of us are Lutherans, but they seem a frendly bunch at this church. Nice craft sale every fall.

Just across the street, a Buddist temple. Might stop in and say "hey" to the monks tonight, too. Can't hurt.

Alright...WHO has the moxie to go to as many NNO parties
as possible, with an unobtrusive grocery bag to gather treats
and other assorted goodies... you'd have to have a place
to stash the goodies when the bag is filled to go back for more!

If anyone questions your identity, point vaguely at some house
and say either you bunk there (first find out where your interrogator
lives and make sure their not the CCP Safe Officer)

or you were once a resident there and missed ye old block so
much you just had to return...

Blog about the whole experience and add pix and reviews of
the best or worst assorted goodies you acquired...

Who's gonna do it?

I'll be enjoying my first NNO downtown. I'll probably listen to some live music, eat too much, talk to no one and go home.

Thanks, KC!

I have one sort-of bilingual neighbor. There is also an older lady who is, well, painfully racist. Not sure how to work around that. The police department has a lot of flyers, etc., available in other languages, but I didn't know if my neighbors would be receptive. Maybe we'll get our shit together next year.

yepnope,

A lot of our neighborhood is Spanish and Somali speaking. The individual blocks used the neighborhood association and bilingual neighbors as a resources for translation of flyers and going door to door to explain what the night is for.
