I would say “BT” aka Brian Turner, from Cities 97. I met him at the Clear Channel studios this spring when I was taping an public affairs piece with Lee Valsvik on just what the ALAMN does for the good folks of MN. Nice guy. DINFOS trained killer.

It’s a good thing someone is giving away free passes. At least then the theatre won’t be totally empty.

Ron “Boogiemonster” Gerber, of course. He’s the only person charming, funny and weird enough to make me spend a weekend night listening to music that I think is completely awful.

A masterstroke from the other night: he was informing listeners of the suit that the Rubinoos brought against Avril Lavigne for plagiarizing their quasi-hit song “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend” for her hit song “I Wanna Be Your Girlfriend.” So he plays ‘em both, back to back. Which is great on its own, but then my brother, who I’m riding around with, says “Yeah, the Avirl song is ripped off of the Rubinoos song, of course, but hell, it’s ripped off of about a million other songs — like ‘Mickey,’ by Toni…”

And as soon as these words escape his mouth, what does Ron “Boogiemonster” Gerber cue up? “Mickey”! In Spanish.

Give that man the keys to the city.

KFAI’s Mick Novak is my favorite. She plays everything from Little Marcy to Sandie Shaw to Bobby Darin to Marc Bolan to Lily Allen to Amanda Shaw etc., etc., etc.

When I see Esokla’s face on the screen I get a very soothing feeling that everything is right in the world. So glad he’s back.

Tim Blotz really talks like that too. It’s not an act. Super nice guy. Way nicer than me. And I’m far from hot. I’m barely passable in the TV world.

I’ve never met Jason DeRusha, but I have met Tim Blotz and he really is absolutely super cool. And that voice, OMG that voice. I nearly soiled myself when he called me one day. Then, he gave me his cell phone number and said, “Thanks, man” after I gave him some info. He is, to this day, the only man who’s ever triggered my Fainty Goat Syndrome. I wish he still worked at the Capitol.

Pat Kessler won’t let me interfere on his turf. So we may never meet, Kevin, until we off Kessler. He’s scared of me.

Blotz is a genuinely nice guy and yes, that’s his real voice. He has interviewed me and other ALAMN staffers a number of times. While many of the local newsies are good to work with, I have found the Fox folks especially friendly.

My favorite radio personality is Barb Abney.

Kevin Cole, formerly of REV105. I had the good fortune of being able to listen to him on REV through high school, I graduated, time passed, I ended up in Seattle and so did Kevin. Now I get to hear him on the fantastic 90.3 KEXP (kexp.org) every afternoon. “He’s my Elvis” as one of his inter-song audio bites says (is there a word for those, BTW?).
