"Okay, so let’s just call it even for 2000 and move on." Not even close to even...yet.

Also, Ventura got weird long before 9/11 and before he left office.

I think most people see news as something more than just filler around commercials. It's not "just something they do" like reality shows or cartoon...
In the case of SA, I'm willing to overlook their discrimination against gays (and others) in light of the overall good deeds they perform. But that...

I think we need to shut down all media. They have abdicated completely their responsibility for reporting news.

Depending on how the weather turns in the next 48 hours, many people in the Twin Cities have a lot more to worry about — ground level ozone.

What is it lately in torturing animals? I know Bobby-b and Maz are into torturing animals, but most of us find it repulsive.
It isn’t enough to pass more laws. It just shows how wierd and heartless this society is. OR it could be that society hasn’t changed, but we have more access to information than ever before.
9:59 am
I’m into clown torturing too. I love to set their fright wigs on fire. heh.

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” – Mahatma Ghandi
I think this quote sums it up pretty good. I think this one does too:
“Sh*t rolls down hill” – unknown

All right, enough of that, you two. Honestly.
10:13 am
Every now and then, we animals give you humans a little payback for the way some of you treat us.

Don’t mess with the bull, you’ll get the horns…

Bob – I don’t get your link. Our air quality appears to be in the yellow “moderate” range, yet we’re having “action days” today and tomorrow. Shouldn’t the “action days” be reserved for when we hit red or purple? Please explain.
10:38 am
yes, let’s wait until things get really bad before we do anything about it!
rather than thinking a day or two ahead to try to prevent everyone with breathing problems from suffocating if they go outside.
good one. i’m sure it’s working out great with global warming too. we didn’t really need those glaciers or ice caps anyway.
10:38 am
Wow I’m sort of glad that I live in Minnesota. The rest of Red State lands ari quality really sucks. At least I can drive 50 miles and be out of the moderate range.
10:41 am
In other news, this probably happened because the U of M built a building or something.
10:43 am
Here is the page that explains what an Action Day is.
Damn I love maps I should have been a cartographer.

Yeah! Everybody face east and on the count of three, blow! Ready? (I’m not too good at this but I know some of you here are.)
10:45 am
Wayne – Don’t get all up in my grill. I’m just asking how they do the rankings.
When I see “moderate” air quality, I think, “hey, not so bad – I’m going for a run before I take the kids to the park.” If moderate is dangerous, the labels are misleading. We’re not even into “unhealthy for sensitive groups” range. There are sensitive groups planning outdoor excursions as we speak.

Say wayne. Serious question. What do you think caused the end of the ice age? You know, when all the glaciers started to recede, and the great lakes were created, etc.? Did the earth’s inhabitants at the time burn too much fossil fuel? Drive too many SUVs? Just curious what you think it was.

All the factors are lined up for us to go into the orange soon, Pete, but prediciting the weather is a tricky thing. The pollution source is already here — the stuff coming out of the vehicle tailpipes, mostly — add the right (or wrong, rather) weather conditions and we got ourselves a ground ozone problem for “sensitive groups,” which include a heck of a lot of people in the Twin Cities.
I think the MPCA prefers early alerts to trying to get the word out in the middle of the day, when the elements of ground ozone creation can all come together.
10:57 am
I feel certain today, through ill-tempered discussion, we will be able to solve the question of global warming, and am glad it has come up again.
10:59 am
heh. coward.
11:03 am
Bob just promise you will stay out of England.
They don’t take kindly to the non-smokoing types.

Thanks Bob. That’s what I was wondering. Because according to Simpleton’s link, some areas don’t go “action day” until things are really bad.
11:18 am
Sounds like he could have just as well asked those thugs to move their car and been gunned down, simpleton. This is a case for Scotland Yard, not Just Plain Bob.
By the way, the indoor air in the Land of Lincoln is no longer stinking, effective Jan. 1, 2008.

Until we colonize space, think of earth as a closed system. I’m not sure how anyone could argue/deny that there is a finite amount of space, resources, water (please try, though). Think of it as a petri dish, and think of humans as rapidly reproducing microbes, if you will.
Through technological advances, humans have been able to eliminate or marginalize most all natural predators (big animals, small diseases) to the point where we’re experiencing unrestrained and nearly-exponential population growth.
This planet has been a bull market for human population growth for ~3,000 years….we’re just due for a market correction. A large number of us are simply bound to suffocate on our own exhaust.

I thought the whole “good question” segment on WCCO TV last night was just plain dumb. Duh! Of course the humidity in the air is caused by weather fronts. Everybody should know that from basic high school science 101. A News station however shouldn’t waste over two minutes by interviewing people on the streets and talking to Paul Dogulas about it.
I think American society is just getting dumber and dumber! And I don’t know the answer to the problem since there is no good explanation to why or how people are asking idiotic questions, especially to the media these days.
11:41 am
There is no such thing as a “dumb question,” Big G.
There are, however, MNSpeakers who are complete idiots.
I’m not naming names…
