That former Lanesburo police chief, John Tuchek, reportedly said that he set the fire that distroyed several historic buildings in the little town on the Root River to “impress a girlfriend.” As I recall, she lived in the building he torched –his bright idea was to “save her” and be a hero. Fortunately, no one was killed, but a big chunk of downtown Lanesburo went up in flames.
This is one creepy stalker guy to take seriously…

Norman Borlaug is a true hero.

For someone who saved more lives than . . . well . . . . anyone else I can think of . . . ever . . . . Borlaug has remained unknown, anonymous, and unheralded, all by his own choice. When he got the Nobel, he basically said he knew it really wasn’t meant to honor him individually, but to honor advancement in agriculture, and they just came across his name first. Classy guy.
Oh, and, note to self: drive slower in St. Paul this Saturday. (They announce these things? I suppose that saves them lots of that pesky ticket-writing time.)
