Some pretty photos

There are more beautiful liquor store fronts in these cities than almost anywhere. If only they were open past 10. Or on Sundays.

I drive by the Mermaid almost every morning. Fetching little watery tart, isn’t she? She was featured in a Ziggy cartoon once.

The ‘Maid resides, technically speaking, in Mounds View. New Brighton is woefully low on silly giant statues.

Back when the three martini lunch was popular, they used to have noontime lingerie shows at the Mermaid. And by “back when” I don’t mean last year.

And by “back when” I also mean before I was old enough for a martini lunch. That was a long time ago.

Thanks for speaking up, yepnope. That didn’t sound right to me, either.

Moundsview also has a great bar to visit before seeing The Simpsons Movie, which will air at an adjacent theater on (old) Highway 10.

Would that be the Wyndsong theater, Bob?

Mounds View is two words, by the way. And Mounds View High School (my alma mater) is located in New Brighton.

It would be, josie, and I stand corrected on the spelling on Mounds View.

I was just at the Wyndsong last week to see an animated movie about a charming little creature I shall not name.

“Mounds View” – THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID!!!

I know Kevin will certainly appreciate this (courtesy of Married To The Sea):

lol@teucer.

The Mermaid statue used to really scare me as a kid. I used to have nightmares about it. Seriously. She did not look like a friendly mermaid and that net she is holding is huge!

I’m just happy there are finally comments on one of my photo threads.

I guess that means you need to post more photos of giant, scantily clad, chimeras…

“And Mounds View High School (my alma mater) is located in New Brighton.”

Isn’t it Arden Hills?

Yes, it’s Arden Hills. But that’s coming from a guy who lives in the Roseville, Falcon Heights, St. Paul, Lauderdale vortex. We don’t know which way is up or wrong. All I know is we’re not Edina.

Speaking of Edina, what’s the final recipe for the Edina Screamer from last week?
