If Hardy can find his form from two years ago it will be a fantastic trade. Go-go was at best a defensive center fielder. If he could have learne...

I agree. The Yankees are boringly predictable.
This is why the Twins are the Twins and the Yankees are the Yankees. Let's see, should we go for Hardy or Teixera? Hmmm.

I like the guy, but I have to admit he was a bit disappointing.

Just about every time we went to a game at the dome, you'd hear "fans" (quote marks emphasized) trashing GoGo loudly, which made me want to stand ...

Dude.
5:31 pm
Will it be “bring your own shoe-horn”? Just imagining the crowd is giving me an agoraphobic panic attack.

From Prince’s website:
Return 2 First Avenue: PRINCE LIVE
The official aftershow 4 Prince’s Target Center event this Saturday will take place at First Avenue. Doors open immediately following the Target Center concert. Tix are $31.21 each, 18 & Over, and will be available on Saturday. We will post more details here soon.
5:47 pm
grr. whay did you have to spread this? Everyone, its a lie, don’t bother getting tickets on Sat.
you never heard/read this.. now delete this post.
5:48 pm
so he’s playing 3 shows that night . . . cRazy
5:49 pm
What, he’s warming up for Three Dog Night?
5:52 pm
Now there’s a dose of Minneapolitania.
Could it even be possible to end it without him laughing in the Purple Rain?
5:57 pm
But if you think it’s going to be cramped in First Ave, just you wait for the crowd at the Hüsker Dü/Replacements reunion twin-bill at the Entry. No crossovers, Bob Stinson’s ghost will play guitar.

“Tix are $31.21 each, 18 & Over, and will be available on Saturday.”
Available… how?
6:45 pm
Your crew has to take his crew in basketball to get tix.
6:46 pm
$31.21. heh. that prince is so sly. prolly on sale when everyone else is at the Target Center
8:33 pm
Update.
9:33 pm
The release ends with, “The permanent list will not be honored that night.”
is there some sort of list of folks who are comped via a permanent list of names, whenever they want, @ 1st ave?
9:47 pm
I actually kinda want to go to that.
9:49 pm
Me too. I’m working Saturday night, so maybe I’ll get to see one of these shows. If you idiots can try to avoid drowning or being murdered. Thanks for your cooperation.
10:15 pm
is there some sort of list of folks who are comped via a permanent list of names, whenever they want, @ 1st ave?
Yes, but it’s almost always blacked out for sold out shows. I couldn’t get into the 2005 Garbage show, for example.
10:23 pm
So you’re on the list? Cool!
10:33 pm
Actually, I doubt I’m still on it. I don’t go to shows nearly as often as I used to, so that’s okay.
10:37 pm
I call not queuing up @ 1st Ave starting @ 3pm Friday for the 3pm Saturday tickets (wouldn’t be surprised, actually, if someone is out there now…anybody got a webcam?) . I think I’ll just sit over @ he O’Donovan’s patio and sip beer while admiring the sticktoitiveness of the dedicated fans.
12:39 am
I’m on that list, and Lux is right, there’s no way they’ll honor it for this.
1:16 am
Be warned jderusha…there’s a cloud in St. Cloud.
Take cover!
No morning kindergarten!!!
1:18 am
In my bedroom… I have a brass waterbed!
heh heh heh heh
10:42 am
motherfucking
they’re cancelling too much love!
fuck! I was really looking forward to going this week.
god damn it!
10:44 am
damn you prince for getting whatever you want and your eccentricity! you just come in and fuck up my plans!
10:59 am
1ce again, I have thwarted u, Wayne. It is 2 ea-z, being ur nemesis.
11:12 am
I think it’s funny that Prince was one of the first people that started talking a cross between leetspeak and LOLcats pretty much before either existed.

“1ce again, I have thwarted u, Wayne. It is 2 ea-z, being ur nemesis.”
Anonymous poster…I love you.
11:23 am
Who’s going to the Target Center show? I can’t wait!
11:42 am
As of approximately 10:30 a.m. (CDT) on Friday, July 6 (07-06-07), there were approximately zero (0) people waiting in line outside of First Avenue.
Whew. I’m winded. Why can’t I get the marquee tag to work?
12:06 pm
12:07 pm
12:09 pm
12:10 pm
Ack, my eyes are exploding!
12:11 pm
12:13 pm
You people give a man a pain.
12:13 pm
tee hee
12:14 pm
srry max, I was trying to unbreak the frontpage but it’s not working so well
12:21 pm
Argh, makes my head go ’splody.
12:25 pm
It’s not nice to make Josie ’splode, Wayne. Just remember — video of a MNspeak tar and feathering will play well on YouTube.
12:25 pm
Bleah. The marquee tag was developed by Satan himself.
12:29 pm
Well I suppose it depends on how he does it, Rich…
12:38 pm
Good point. There’s good ’splody and bad ’splody.
1:05 pm
hehe, good splody.
2:06 pm
Just to be clear, marquee tags are bad ’splody.
Furthermore, I will not participate in MNspeak incest!
2:58 pm
You lost me, coach. Define MNspeak incest?
3:07 pm
I am guessing, but I would assume she meant MNSpeak fratricide… That is, if some particular people continue to explore the marquis tag, they will be pushing up daisies, kaput, ex-MNSpeakers…
3:16 pm
just for the record, I was the 1st person in line for Prince tix @ 11:15 this morning…but I gave up after just 30 seconds of waiting & reading the upcoming list of shows. There are currently 3 intrepid souls in captain’s chairs waiting in front of the Un-Bank to be 1st in line.
3:22 pm
Who knows what I meant. I’m in a food coma from the BBQ we had at work today anyway.
3:32 pm
My plan is to get in line tomorrow at noon. If, at that time, there are 1,500 people ahead of me, my backup plan is to go across the street and drink some beers.
4:08 pm
To no one’s surprise, Wayne gives woman a bad ’splody.
I, on the other hand, I got your good ’splody right here.
4:20 pm
I like Mike’s plan…
7:32 pm
“Brace yourselves gentlemen. According to the gas-chromatograph, the secret ingredient is — Love! Who’s been screwing with this thing?” – Professor Frink
1:38 pm
Got here at 11. I think there are about 1000 people ahead of me, but people have guessed anywhere from 500 to 1100.
The line appears to go clockwise from the front door, all the way around the block to the UnBank, then around Block E from the NW corner of 1st and 7th (in front of the Hard Rock) counterclockwise all the way past the Borders doors. I am under the skyway from Block E to Target Center, which is a pretty sweet spot to sit.
Stop by and say hi. You can have some of my vitamin water.
2:45 pm
Can’t go to the Prince show! Have tickets…interested?
I’ve got 4 of the best seats in the house tonight and can’t go. I put up a listing on Craigslist just now, but if you contact me through there and mention “MNSpeak” we’ll work out something super special. Heading to a wedding tonight.
7:59 pm
Holy effing cats was that a long process. I have tickets to First Ave, though.
They gave us wristbands with the tickets, so no scalping for the afterparty….
10:51 am
Prince came by this morning after the First Ave. show and cooked up some of his famious pancakes for us. Sure, the man can play, but nobody makes pancakes like Prince.
1:07 pm
I made it into First Ave, somehow, I believe they withheld just a handful of tickets to sell when he went on stage (around 3am? I was bloody drunk), I heard the workers themselves saying “we can let in 9 more” as I bought the ticket… I didn’t even get a wristband or anything.
First show I actually paid for at First Ave in awhile…
1:58 pm
More! Tell me about the show!
(And damn you Eklund! I would have flown back if I knew I could get tix!)
2:45 pm
Prince gives local police a pain.
3:33 pm
Well I guess that explains the 1st Ave roadblock, at any rate.
3:43 pm
I assume there are no reviews of the show yet because those who went are just waking up. Details please!
4:11 pm
My friend who went said it was unbelievable.
4:21 pm
what time did the show @ Target Center end? Seems crazy to me that he was unable to start @ First Ave until 2:45am.
4:30 pm
That’s stupid. No downtown club should be forced to close at 3 am. No wonder we’re such a tame peoples.
5:11 pm
Someone left this set list on a post on my site:
+ 3121
+ Girls & Boys
+ Feel 4 U->Controversy
+ 3 Handed Woman
+ Satisfied
+ Down by the Riverside (horn section instrumental)
+ Broken Heart Again
+ Love Is a Losing Game (Amy Winehouse cover sung by Shelby J)
+ Love Changes (Shelby on vocals)
+ Thank You->Hair->Sing a Simple Song->Everyday People->Alphabet Street
[Look right?]
It’s very non-big-hit-ish, but still full of stuff I would have loved to hear.
6:44 pm
Target Center started around 10pm, ended just after midnight. There’s a tiny review from Bream at the Strib
7:02 pm
Just realized that the “someone” who left that set list was Kyle at More Cowbell, who has a full post about the show.
10:42 pm
Tremendous show. Prince played with Wendy; Sheila E; Larry Graham; Shelby J, who was effing fantastic; and a ridiculously good horn section with a dixieland feel.
I think my favorites were “Three Handed Woman” and the instrumental version of “Down By the Riverside.” I wish he’d been able to play the last 9 songs of the set, but it probably would have ended up with me having to carry my unconscious friends out of the club. Or leave them.
(We could analyze the logistical issues all day long, but the fact remains Prince managed to pull off three shows at three different venues in a single day. Many fans managed to stay up all night, stand in the sun most of the day, and still rock out through all three shows. I only went to the First Ave show, but I still felt like it was a hell of an event when I finally made it home at 9 o’clock this morning.)
