Noodleman I am going to rent at least for awhile until I am more established.
How about the Chinese optimist named Kum Wat May?
Thank you all very much for your help. I really appreciate it. :)
"Johnny Johncock is relieved" Boy I'll say!
Oh yeah, he was discussed but for whatever reason did not make the cut. His team photo is really grim and serious though, which does make his name ...
oh obvs. How about the viking head butter Johnny Jolly
Any day is a good day for sake. I made up the name Churchy McTeetotaller, obvs, but a fun recent addition to the list is Jerry Johncock. ht...

Something to do with Dick Cheney?

That is hilarious. I now need to visit Trieste Cafe, after July 8th of course.

If there’s a joke there, it went over my head.
Jakeeno’s at 36/Chicago offered no such explanation, FWIW.

Oh, don’t feel bad. It’s just that Dick Cheney tried to shut down the Nation Archives Information Security Oversight Office in 2004 because they wanted to investigate him.
Now, I’ll doubt if the Triesta Cafe tried to look into Cheney’s activities resulting the the closure of the Cafe for a day….but the humor in the joke (albiet not that much) was that he was involved in trying to shut down this cafe as well.
Does that help?

I’ve walked by it a few times….and I’m just wondering…if it’s a Greek style cafe, why is it named after an Italian city?
10:24 am
I was going to guess that it was a former Greek colony, but, at least according to wiki, that isn’t the case. The only thing that seems to tie it to Greece was this, “After the end of the Western Roman Empire (in 476), Trieste remained a Byzantine military centre.”
Eh, what can I say. I was curious and it’s slow here at work.

I prefer couscous myself.

There is a joke there – all the people and places of the supposedly historical event they’re commemorating in their holiday are really names of Greek and near-Eastern dishes. Well, except Mythos, who some of you might know as Tzatziki.
It’s not unusual for this to happen in that part of the world. After all, a well-known militant Palestinian movement was originally named after a chickpea dip.

Heh!
Teucer: The Man Who Made Gaza Funny. Mr. Brown, the Foriegn Secretary needs a man like this to break the ice (or the peace accord, depending on how the joke is translated) at the next Middle East Summit.

I’m hungry.
There, now I have achieved all the recent comments on the front page being mine. Muah ha ha ha.
Moving on.
