The Iow Jima story was posted yesterday in the middle of a thread, but I thought it deserved to be highlighted on the front page.

WCCO will re-air the award-winning documentary, The Last Flagraiser, this Sunday at 11am, and next Sunday at 11 am.

I’m feeling some pain from the Dutch Elm spike; when we bought our house last year, one of the attractions was the great tree-lined look of our street. Now we’re about to lose maybe a quarter of those trees. None in our yard, but it still bites.

Plus, I’m sick of the sound of chainsaws.

That poor family. Losing four of those babies has to be impossibly hard, no matter how I feel about the excessive implantation of embryos in the in vitro process.

I cannot even imagine how awful this must be for them.

The sextuplets weren’t conceived through in vitro. They used a drug that stimulates ovulation. Apparently they were told the drug had created two mature follicles and given the go-ahead to try to conceive.

But the doctor was wrong and she ovulated at least 10 eggs. I think the doctor sounds pretty darn bad.

Of course, they did have remedies for this that they choose not to take, but that’s up to them, I suppose.
