Adieu, Mr. Wizard

Did he fall in the mines of Mora as well? Alas! What fell news is this!

I loved Mr. Wizard!

Noooooo!

He taught me that celery has veins, and they would suck up colored water. I never felt right eating veggies after that episode, thinking in my own 5-year-old way that there were things God had never intended for man to do.

It was great to have a show that taught kids without resorting to MTV-style editing and a desperation to be “cool” ::cough::Bill Nye the Science Guy::cough::

I loved his show in the 80s and desperately wanted to be one of the kids featured as helpers. Even then, I was a total geek.

Speaking of geekery,

Did he fall in the mines of Mora as well?

It’s Mines of Moria.

…his assistants were boys and girls.

Yes, I, too, wanted to be Mr. Wizard’s helper.

BUT only after I was on You Can’t Do That On Television!

Who’s the bigger geek now?!

:D

Christine- I don’t know…/big splat of green slime on my head…

lol.

My favorite Mr. Wizard was when he went on the rollercoaster with a big bucket of popcorn and none of it fell out. That man was crazy!

Alie,

Just don’t say **water**

ARRRGHH!

YCDTOTV already had a Christine… called “Moose.” That must be a Canadian thing. There may have been one too many fat jokes at their expense, but not all the girls in the cast are what I’d call slim.

MAKE Magazine’s blog had a bunch of posts in the past week where they even ran pictures of lap projects in scenes that looked a lot like Mr. Wizard’s world, and it made me have one of those “is (Celebrity X) still alive?”. Later on, I got the news from… you guessed it… MAKE.

Sometimes I run Mr. Wizard together with that Doc character from Fraggle Rock. I swear they had the same set. Of course, I do the same thing with Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Better Off Dead.

It seems that Mr. Wizard had quite the female fan base. Or at least, a MnSpeak-posting female fan base.

It’s Mines of Moria.

Well, in Common Tounge, yes, it is spelled that way.

Give Bob some credit for a good Minnesota joke that doesn’t start with “Ole and Lena…”

It’s all just one continous TV Land, anyway, Champs.

Oh great! Let’s just trash Bill Nye in the namesake of remembering Mister Wizard. Gee whiz. Does anyone *bleeping* care if Nye show was that different to Mister Wizard?!

Methinks I’m too old for this…I have no idea who this is.

Now if we’re talking Romper Room and Electric Company, I’m all in.

. . .and Electric Company . . .

Arriviste.

Now, if we’re talking Casey Jones and Roundhouse Rodney, I’m all in.

I remember Mr. Wizard on Nickelodeon from back in the day. Good memories. Making science “cool.” Or at least making it a little more cool to be into science.

What a terrific show…he appeared so patient with all those nerds (though I always thought they were Canadian Nerds like most most Nick nerds at that time.)

He definitely got me more interested in science and for that I think him. Farewell.

Isn’t it Je ne parle pas francais?

or if you’re trying to say I’m not french wouldn’t it be
je ne suis pas francais?
