SEVEN QUICK QUESTIONS:
1) How did you get interested in the environment?
I’ve been interested in environmental issues for a long time, but my wife got me focused. She’s a professional environmental educator and activist who used to work for groups like the Rainforest Action Network.
2) Why green music?
It’s a good fit for us. She knows the environmental side. I knew the music side. Since we formed Reverb, we have both learned a lot about how both sides operate.
3) Any inspirations for your green crusade?
Oh, definately. Bonnie Raitt, for sure, and Willie Nelson. They were way out ahead of the green concert movement.
4) So how fo you and your wife “walk the walk” at home?
At home? Let me think…we’ll we did the compact fluorescent bulb thing in the house, and that made a huge difference in our electricty use. We use only green, nontoxic cleaning solutions, and we offset the carbon we use when we have to drive or fly on personal or Reverb business.
5) What do you know about Minnesota now that you didn’t know earlier?
It’s cold. Just kidding. I didn’t know about all diesel fuel in Minnesota having biodiesel in it. That’s very cool.
6) What’s next for you and Reverb?
We are going to try to expand beyond “green concert tours” to green venues, green merchandise, and prompting the whole music industry to become more environmentaly aware and responsible.
