Weather Terrorists Strike Again

And I just like the word weather terrorist.

And, by the way, it’s sort of windy out.

And dark clouds are rolling in.

This is a conspiracy as bad as 9/11, global warming, and daylight savings time put together!

The consolation is that these windy days are great for airplane watching. They are zooming over my house tonight and when I left work today there was a jet on a landing pattern right over the Capitol. I mean, this puppy was lowwwww and not headed to the downtown airport.

I was going to throw a jacket in the bag today, but then I thought “I don’t want to let the weather terrorists win.”

Dave Dahl is having another orgasim while he attempts to forcast the weather. What do you expect from someone who has no window to look out of.

We apparently had some pretty strong winds come through parts of St. Anthony. When I got home from work at 7, there was a good sized tree that had been ripped out of the ground, and the power was out. Don’t know when it went out, but it didn’t come back on until 8:20.

I just saw a double rainbow while driving down 169. Also, it is windy as fuck.

Lileks has posted some terrifying pictures of the storm.

Heh.

I concur with Kwatt and the planes in St. Paul. It was one after another. About every 3 or 4 minutes they would fly over and they were so low I felt I could jump up and touch them. I have lived in Mac-Grove for 8 years and more planes flew over my house today then in the last 8 years combined.

I wonder if “The Goof on the Roof” aka Paul Douglas will say on the news tonight that he was 100% wrong.

Speaking of Lileks, what happened to the Buzz daily round up of various news stories? I liked that.

(Through typo, I also learned in this post that option+z gets you this: ©. what is that?)

I just saw a double rainbow while driving down 169

um…is this some sort of code for a lesbian sex act?

Today was a good day for plane watching at Crystal Airport because of the high wind’s. We’ve seen them stop dead in midair for seconds in windy conditions and all of a sudden you can hear the engines roar as they increase power to keep from falling to the ground. Our little house sat a block away from the end of a runway, pretty site at night, but a year after we moved there was a plane that crashed into the kitchen of a house a block away from us. To damn close.

the wind ripped a branch as thick as my bicep (and y’all know how HUGE that is) from the sycamore in our backyard…cheap firewood for the weekend, i guess.

Ahh, today’s winds have blown in a fresh batch of grocer’s apostrophes.

I think you mean grocer’s apostrophe’s.

Ahahaha, that’s why I love Lilieks.

Also, there was a whole tree in marcy-holmes cracked at the base and blown over onto a car. It had the orange x of death on it, so it must’ve already been sick, but the winds were pretty bad to knock a tree with about a 8 or 9 inch diameter trunk down like that.

I haven’t seen anything yesterday, except for the wind blowing. Other than it was a nice day to cut the lawn outside.

Oh, also there were a lot (A LOT) of hot young ladies out tanning yesterday ALL OVER THE PLACE. Many of them on pieces of grass I’ve never seen anyone even sit on, let alone think of tanning on.

It was pretty beautiful.

Oh and then there were all the women downtown in their skirts and dresses that probably shouldn’t be work appropriate. The wind kept blowing them up.

I’m a dirty young man.

Wayne, we know where you don’t normally see grass.

Ba-dum-PAH!

Aww, rats…

I was thinking this thread was gonna be linked to conclusive proof that GWB was testing his “weather machine” that he used to destroy New Orleans (for political gain, no less). But instead it was about inept weathermen.

I was a little pissed that we didn’t get any severe stuff myself. I charged the batteries in the camcorder for nothing.
