Still no info. Weak!

Mpls Police, or Immigration?

According to the Feds, immigration is the Police.

Tru that.

I think the story above was misinformation. I had someone send me an email this morning, but they must have seen the info on IndyMedia, which I assume is from last Saturday. Perhaps I’m wrong and they did it again this morning; but the time, locations, and police/immigration involvement seems to indicate otherwise. So… we can delete the darned thing… turn it into an immigration post that I alone will keep writing in, with Rich chiming in every now and then… try to hijack it and turn it into a general POLITICAL conversation about non-germane, non-local issues… or just let it die in peace.

Or post foreign LOLcats as a gesture of solidarity and to drum up interest in immigrant rights.

Or turn it into the sex thread everybody has been clamoring for.

Well, illegal immigration and sex seem to often go hand in hand. And why not? Even sleepy burbs like Bloomington need a Thai brothel.

Wow. Anybody else get really scared for a second there?

i already know the answer, so why do I post?

are the rights of any “legal” immigrants under attack?

don’t get me wrong, i love our hispanic brothers. I’ve worked in many a kitchen and construction site with them. they work hard & are friendly. I am also a big fan of people who want to work hard to improve themselves.

i’ll even go you one better. i think every year the govt should allow 1 million people to immigrate, and we should deport 1 million of our worst natural born citizens. even exchange.

the developing countries win both ways. they get a million expatriates to wire money home, and they get a million mostly educated people to jump start their own economy. (yeah, there’d be alot of criminals and welfare types, but I bet they’d be running Namibia in about 6 months).

(yawn) I just woke up from the most pleasant daydream.

Riddle me this:
** Why can’t a cop hold an illegal that he nabs on a traffic stop. That’s stupid.

**Why do we bury our heads in the sand and pretend that our current immigration policy works? If we didn’t need the workers, 11 million people wouldn’t have come. I hate GWB, but I’m all for guest workers.

No, but some people are just naturally more upset by Thai brothels than others.

What about that brothel in Northeast Minneapolis. Anybody know of any others?

I meant this brothel.
It’s really not funny.

If you go on a ride along with your local cop, they will be happy to point out the brothels. They call them whorehouses, though.

Hmmm… Do I have a local cop? I don’t know him.

You can submit a request form for a ride-along at your local precinct. Learning where the whorehouses are was definitely the high point. Otherwise, it was dull as dishwater. Boring’s cool, though, when it’s your neighborhood.

Cool. Thanks, yepnope. I just may do that. Now, anybody know how I can get a hold of the Guardian Angels?

If we didn’t need the workers, 11 million people wouldn’t have come.

If the 11 million people didn’t come, we’d have a much better-paid entry-level work force.

“They do work Americans won’t do”? Nope. They do work for $4/hour that Americans won’t do for $4/hour.

They’ve got a site on der interweebz.

Now, anybody know how I can get a hold of the Guardian Angels?

They’re unarmed, so you can grab ‘em pretty much anywhere.

Thanks. Just sent them an email.
And I’ll grab ‘em as soon as I see ‘em.

Why can’t a cop hold an illegal that he nabs on a traffic stop. That’s stupid.

Because they would be tied up for hours, if not days, and most police departments would rather have the officer dealing with crimes that are more than status offenses.

Not only that, but allowing police involvement in immigration issues has a deadining effect on immigrants’ (legal and otherwise) willingness to ask for police intervention. That means more crime and more victims, not less.

It looks like there were raids today, but in Austin.

Fucking gawd I’m sick of illegal immigration, as a topic and as an act.

Not only that, but allowing police involvement in immigration issues has a deadining effect on immigrants’ (legal and otherwise) willingness to ask for police intervention.

So what.

That means more crime and more victims, not less.

Bullshit

So what.

No, it’s meaningful, even for one who wants illegal immigration stopped. Create a class of people who fear going to the police, and you create a class of easy victims for whatever criminal crap baddies can think of to dish out at them. And then, just like any “tax it and it shrinks, reward it and it grows” situation, this has the effect of boosting the profitability and desirability of criminal crap, which in turn makes the criminal class grow, which eventually spreads out to make all our lives less good.

Plus, not even dumb people who let some stupid, weenie concern over not being able to feed their kids because of the worthless economy in their own corrupt country should be thrown to the wolves that seem to reside in many parts of our fair MSA. Frankly, I’d rather be deporting the robbers, thieves, muggers, drug dealers (well, not mine, I mean), welfare cheats, crooked pols, crooked-pol bribers, and drunk ATVers than some of the Mexican families I’ve met in my life.

Yaay!

Let’s hear it for ICE, finally cracking down on illegals!

People bitch about taxes, about crime, about unemployment and about low pay for entry level jobs, yet when we start cracking down on part of the problem (some would say the root of the problem) people start screaming “Civil rights! Civil rights!”

Truly amazing.

You can’t have it both ways, people. You can’t have your utopian garden of eden and at the same time allow every single scumbag who decides to cross the border into the country.

Before you start flaming me, I’ll tell you outright-I have no problem with legal immigration. But if you violate a law by entering the country illegally, why should anyone expect that you’re gonna follow any of the other laws?
