Teen Nightclubs

Hey, weenybopper, suffer like the rest of us did…..locked in your room with a pair of headphones, a bag of sunflower seeds and a bottle of glue.

It’s more interesting than any hoochie/manwhore-training-wheels teen club experience. Trust me. You’re in Minnesota, not NYC.

I can’t help you much, London, but you might want to check City Pages or CitySearch.

Actually, maybe I can offer some advice. Don’t go clubing. It’s expensive and not very fun. Find something better to do.

That’s an idea. Fly to NYC. They don’t care how old you are as long as you’re willing to pay $15 for a drink.

Maybe this will help. I hope so, because it took me a solid 5 minutes to find it on the craptacular Pulse web site.

Do you mean 16+ or 18 to party, 21 to drink.

Tropix comes to mind [insert shudder].

Once upon a time I tried to go to teen night at AlleyGators in Maple Grove (!). I think I was 16, so it was 16+ I guess. The line was long, so we left. So ends my clubbing career.

The point is…AlleyGators in Maple Grove?

I was wondering where all the high school girls were hanging out.

If you’re 18+, skip clubbing and look for venues in town that have 18+ nights to see live music. Most clubs in town have started adding lots of shows that 18ers can go to. Much better than clubbing.

If you’re not 18 yet, you should be staying in on the weekends and reading the classics anyways.

London: Ignore all the sad old wanna-be hipsters. It’s cool to have you here and posting!

I know Bar-Fly in downtown Minneapolis on Hennepin has an 18+ night on Wednesdays. I should clarify that I’ve never been to “Cherry” night at Bar-Fly… but one of my 24 year-old coworkers is a fan.

Too bad First Ave doesn’t still have Sunday Teen Dance Party.

That was the bomb! (Check out my dated vernacular)

First Ave still has quite a few 18+ dance nights.

Anyone ever go to After the Goldrush in some godforbidden southern suburb? I never went but it seemed to be the place to go when I was in High School in the late 80’s.

Here’s the scoop on Stargate, by the way. Wed is 18+ night. I think Friday may be 16+.

In being informative isn’t Club 3 Degrees all ages?

Policy:

All ages welcome until 12:00 am or until show is over. 14 and under must be with someone 18 or older at all times. Lounge is 16+ after 9pm. Entire club is 18+ 12:00 am to close. For safety reasons, customers under 4 ft tall must use balcony for select shows.

Don’t leave your Jesus at home!

Am I the only one having a difficult time believing that London is just a bored teen looking to do some clean partying?

I mean if he really was wouldnt he be asking this question on MySpace.com after having left a trail of 100 messages in 10 minutes on 259 profiles of people he never met but are local and know where to teen party in the TC.

Sorry for rambling&

Lets just all hope Londons email numbers arent his birthday.

And Karina, your Alleygators reference cracked me up! I’ve bowled at the adjoining bowling alley before. Hence the clever name “Alley” gators.

If I had any money– I’d open up a suburban dance club that mainly plays music from the 80s. Plop it in Plymouth or Maple Grove. You could operate Thursday-Sunday and nightly during the summer and do a decent business, I’d expect.

LOL @ the idea of JD grooving out to White Snake with a bunch of belly-fat white men in their 40s and chick with mullets.

I mentally can picture JD rocking out to Pour Some Sugar On Me much easier than White Snake.

I think Tawnya Kitane is old enough to be his mom.

chick with mullets is this a lesbian club?

So you are just going to the teen dance night to dance? Why did you bring a six pack of beer? You chatted on line, saying “I want to touch your _____” and “Yeah, that feels good” Now, you’re trying to tell me you were just kidding around?

Woo hoo! I used to drink Miller Clear (bottles and even pitchers) at AlleyGators back in the day. Talk about your macrobrew mistake…oh wait, that’s another thread entirely.

No idea, I didn’t move to the Twin Cities until I was almost 22. I got into a bar once as a minor, and it was at the Jazz Club in Mankato (not to be mistaken for a real jazz club).

I know this is a pipe dream, but I’d like to see a little traction on the idea of letting states set their own drinking age laws again. Alcohol-related traffic fatalities have dropped since the law was written, but no more so than the world at large, where most consider an age limit of 20 to be high.

To show my age, I was of legal drinking age at 19… I personally think they should do away with the drinking age all together.

you’re one to talk!

Personally, the 80s music doesn’t do it for me… but all my upper 20-lower 30-something friends seem to love that stuff. It is true that I am the king of the white man’s shuffle, however.

LOL at this whole thread, on a day when my work is more depressing than usual. . . especially laughing at the dancing derusha. . . techies, we need a little icon of a dancing derusha
thanks. guys! I will be humming bad 80s music all day

Try mnvibe.com. For extra entertainment while you are there, lurk their message boards for raver and club-goer drama.

After the Gold Rush was in Cottage Grove. Hardly godforbidden, that town is the proud home of Sam Jacobsen. And Jeff Carlson.

Before that it was a Cheap Skate roller rink. Since then it’s been a country bar, Cowboy. And now, it’s simply the Rush. Although they will play some REO Speedwagon too. And its still block rockin’ the burbs!

Suggested name in its next iteration: CG BB’s

Maybe it just seemed really far away because I grew up in Brooklyn Center the direct opposite side of the Metro.

I’m fairly certain thou in the 80’s it was still an unpaved gravel road to CG wasn’t it?

It’s a little slapped together, but I didn’t have a lot of time. But, here you go!!!

Dancin DeRusha

Thanks, DouglasG! You make my day. . .
And I think Cottage Grove is also the hometown of Sven Sundgaard. (Sorry about the spell)
Gretchen Carlson, Miss USA or America, was Miss Cottage Grove years ago. Except I think she was from. . . Anoka!

I would totally go to the dancing derusha with 80s music. Your first band to book, if you have live shows that is, has to be Brat Pack Radio. Your upper 20s, lower 30s friends will love them, if they don’t already.

Nothing like a Dancin’ DeRusha to make ya smile. Perhaps I have a future as the next Terry Gilliam… Nah! I didn’t think so either.

Hahahahahaha!

Yeah DeRusha, Spectrum lanes! I used bowl there as well. Sadly they got rid of the Gator fries. I’d continue to go there if they still had those….

Kal- I really am a 15 year old GIRL, thanks….anyways, thanks to everyone who helped!

Oh, and by the way, I am not looking to go to bars or bad places. I just want to go somewhere fun! The 3 Degrees places sounds nice, thanks Mpls Simpleton!

Douglas: That is hilarious! A bright spot in my day. I need a way to link to that from my blog.

City Pages on Club 3 Degrees

If you read this article and still want to go there, I think you need some saving – from the Jesus, not by him.

I think the best suggestion that was given is to look for music shows that are all ages.

Hmm, I am Catholic….after reading that article, I guess the club scene just isn’t for me.

Jason,
You can do anything you like with the image. If you wish to link, it is located at http://blog.lib.umn.edu/deg/campfire/images/DancinDeRusha.gif
Glad you liked it!

I really am a 15 year old GIRL, thanks

Wanna go for a swim???

Hee!

Depending on where you live, Burnsville has The Garage with live music. And Hopkins has The Depot (which also has pretty good coffee).

Honestly, there’s no club scene for 15 year olds. The 16-18 scene is horrible, but at that age, you might think it’s awesome….But it’s not.

My best advice? Concentrate on other things in life till you’re 18.

21.

Catholic boys get all the partying they need from hanging out with the priests

It’s a little slapped together, but I didn’t have a lot of time.

That’s both disturbing and delightful.

You can always check out http://www.life.mn, stargate/energy has one, and Myth does one called club Nitro. There are a few others throughout the cities.

Does any1 ever get laid at teen night….and ya im a pervert

1. All in caps -1
2. Link to own site (unacceptable unless it’s me) -1
3. Site is a Myspace page: -1
4. Teen night -1
5. 1800 kids – 1800

Forecast:

Partially annoying with a 100% chance of FAIL.

I might not have deleted it, Bix, since it is loosely related to the subject, but the all caps thing was too obnoxious for words.
