Second round of snow coming!

Good thing I bought that schnazzy “back-saver” shovel, I guess.

Snow?

Stupid weather terrorists. I’ll believe it when I see it. Then I won’t believe it.

I say bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Weather Terrorists and their Lap Dog Apologists are starting to get FUCKING ANNOYING!

Maybe now Minneapolis will finish plowing the snow emergency routes.

Yet another snow thread. Metroblogging is still in the lead for snow threads though.

Great, now we can hear more crying about the snow emergency system. If you can’t keep your car out of the impound lot you should not have a car.

Yet another snow thread.

Don’t worry, someone will change to topic to smoking bans, cab drivers or Al Franken soon enough.

So who are the AM Radio Terrorists going to target this time? Who’s the Minnesota antagonist for the moronic masses this week? Is Paul Douglas going to be it again?

Ha! That rules!!!

What a jerk that Al Granken is.

The National Weather Service has maps of predicted snowfall through Thursday. I’m thinking that tomorrow is Bring Your Shovel to Work Day™ ;-)

From what I’d seen earlier, it sounded like the storm wouldn’t be over until Friday, so there might be more than that.

Good thing I bought my SAD light. That thing’s got 10,000 lux of pure simulated sunlight.

Metroblogging is still in the lead for snow threads though

We win!

I’m with Mr. DeRusha… I’ll believe it when I see it. Those weather terrorist have no power over me!!!

White Wall of Death II – Electric Boogaloo!

ahaha, awesome!

I hope it doesn’t start/get bad until after friday afternoon/evening, though, because I have a friend coming in from out of town this weekend.

is he coming from boston? i kid, i kid!!!

is he coming from boston? — Heh!

It’s gonna be not enough to prevent me from coming to work tomorrow, but plenty enough to make going home a nightmare.

If it is as bad as they’re predicting, it’ll be interesting to see how the number of cars towed this time around compares to the last time.

Fargo, actually.

I will again have a hearty laugh about cars being towed, though.

And now for the low low price of $29.95/day you can park in my covered spot for the duration of the snow emergency or until Friday evening, whichever comes first!

If you stay home from work tomorrow, the weather terrorists have won!

Total acumulation projections for Twin Cities: 15-21 inches; this ones going to make the weekend storm seem like a dusting!

If you stay home from work tomorrow, the weather terrorists have won!

– - -

If you bring work home tonight and stay home tomorrow and work on it, and thus keep yourself from adding to the traffic nightmare that will surely be, you’ll be laughing in the face of the weather terrorists, and they will become confused and lose self-confidence, and the next time we see a storm come sweeping in, those weather terrorists will start their regular cycle of terrorism, but will suddenly remember your laughter and their own bitter feelings of humiliation and frustrated rage, and they’ll choke, and suddenly those who were once weather terrorists will be reduced to weather vandals, or even mere weather hecklers, and we will have begun the cleansing process.

In case you need your Fashion Weather Forecast!

Tom Waits’ “Emotional Weather Report”…a stroke of weatherspeak heartbreak genius.

late night and early morning low clouds
with a chance of fog
chance of showers into the afternoon
with variable high cloudiness
and gusty winds, gusty winds
at times around the corner of
Sunset and Alvorado
things are tough all over
when the thunder storms start
increasing over the southeast
and south central portions
of my apartment, I get upset
and a line of thunderstorms was
developing in the early morning
ahead of a slow moving coldfront
cold blooded
with tornado watches issued shortly
before noon Sunday, for the areas
including, the western region
of my mental health
and the northern portions of my
ability to deal rationally with my
disconcerted precarious emotional
situation, it’s cold out there
colder than a ticket taker’s smile
at the Ivar Theatre, on a Saturday night
flash flood watches covered the
southern portion of my disposition
there was no severe weather well
into the afternoon, except for a lone gust of
wind in the bedroom
in a high pressure zone, covering the eastern
portion of a small suburban community
with a 103 and millibar high pressure zone
and a weak pressure ridge extending from
my eyes down to my cheeks cause since
you left me baby
and put the vice grips on my mental health
well the extended outlook for an
indefinite period of time until you
come back to me baby is high tonight
low tomorrow, and precipitation is expected

What do you think rush-hour will look like tomorrow?

With Snow of course!

“With snow”, we end up with this:

From the last few posts, it seems that the terrorists have already won…

If we are projected to get as much snow tomorrow as the National Weather Service is predicting; I would bet most schools will either cancel the whole day, or get out early

I don’t think many schools will close.
I think we only had 3 snow days in the 12 years I attended school in the Osseo District 279.

Parents HATE snow days.

I’m so hoping for a snow day. Any one know the likelihood of State Government closing?

Parents HATE snow days.

Damn right. If I’m gonna cut work because of the snow, the last thing I want is for all the rugrats to be home, too.

.

But what happens to the weather bunnies?

minneapolis hasn’t had a snow day in the ten years i have attended school. Now theres no school friday anyway, so we can’t have a snow day.

St. paul had one a few years ago and now they have the possibility of one on friday. NOT FAIR!

Yeah, I’ll concur that 279 is pretty strict with their snow policy…I think I remember like 3 as well. And they all happened like in my elementary school career and 7th grade.

Johnny’s in the basement
Mixing up the medicine
I’m on the pavement
Thinking about the government
The man in the trench coat
Badge out, laid off
Says he’s got a bad cough
Wants to get it paid off
Look out kid
It’s somethin’ you did
God knows when
But you’re doin’ it again
You better duck down the alley way
Lookin’ for a new friend
The man in the coon-skin cap
In the big pen
Wants eleven dollar bills
You only got ten

Maggie comes fleet foot
Face full of black soot
Talkin’ that the heat put
Plants in the bed but
The phone’s tapped anyway
Maggie says that many say
They must bust in early May
Orders from the D. A.
Look out kid
Don’t matter what you did
Walk on your tip toes
Don’t try “No Doz”
Better stay away from those
That carry around a fire hose
Keep a clean nose
Watch the plain clothes
You don’t need a weather man
To know which way the wind blows

Get sick, get well
Hang around a ink well
Ring bell, hard to tell
If anything is goin’ to sell
Try hard, get barred
Get back, write braille
Get jailed, jump bail
Join the army, if you fail
Look out kid
You’re gonna get hit
But users, cheaters
Six-time losers
Hang around the theaters
Girl by the whirlpool
Lookin’ for a new fool
Don’t follow leaders
Watch the parkin’ meters

Ah get born, keep warm
Short pants, romance, learn to dance
Get dressed, get blessed
Try to be a success
Please her, please him, buy gifts
Don’t steal, don’t lift
Twenty years of schoolin’
And they put you on the day shift
Look out kid
They keep it all hid
Better jump down a manhole
Light yourself a candle
Don’t wear sandals
Try to avoid the scandals
Don’t wanna be a bum
You better chew gum
The pump don’t work
‘Cause the vandals took the handles

Awesome, everyone else gets to go home from work now but my boss has tons more work for me to do.

):

Can you work from home?

naw, I don’t have access to the right parts of the network. They only let you VPN in on company laptops, which I don’t have (lots of desktop processing power is a necessity for my job).

Duluth is closed down today and tomorrow. Schools, colleges, library, mall, bridge to Park Point, buses stopped running around 5 this afternoon and won’t run Friday, plows were pulled from the streets from 6 PM until 3 AM, steady 50 mph winds and over a foot of new snow so far. I can’t see out my windows because the snow is caked on them.

The Mpls Central Library closed two hours early today, due to snow.

WTF?

I left there at closing time, went and had a few drinks with a friend, (I’m getting into this happy hour thing) and then took the #6 bus home, no problemo.

Have we become spoiled?

Sucks to be in Duluth.

Sucks to be in Duluth.

I often agree, but never because of the weather. I love winter; it’s why I moved here.
