I too find myself wondering how to square the gospel of greed with the Sermon on the Mount. I’m sure this cult leader can convince his paying dupes that it squares… but after 15 years of studying Jesus and his ministry, I can’t figure out how these folks don’t hemorrage out their ears trying to make this nonsense fit into their heads.

Maybe they’re like the dog in the Far-Side cartoon who only hears his name; except they hear: Blah, blah. blah be a winner. Blah, blah-blah more money blah blah….

^ There’s a better chance he’s read more Old Testament. Conservative Christians seem to like that more than the New Testament; they get most of their idology out of the Old Testament than anything else. Plus the New Testament has this guy named Jesus that preached understanding and other things that would contradict a lot of conservative christians beliefs.

His church's creed, often called the "prosperity Gospel," is that following God's word will lead not only to spiritual salvation but also earthly wealth.
