Barstool Prophets: A Night of Celebrating Literary Excellence

barstool prophets

Sometimes events can use a bit of salesmanship to draw in an audience, but the usage of “literary excellence” and local “heavyweights” by tonight’s Barstool Prophets showcase is totally acceptable with this lineup. Stop into Camp’s cabaret theater to hear (and cheer on) work from hometown rock icon and artist Venus DeMars, award-winning poet and large-scale public artist Todd Boss, highly honored poet Paul CisewskiMike Finley (who you’ll recognize as the deranged Christmas Poet of the New Standards Holiday show), and co-founder and editor of Nice Cage Literary Magazine Isadora Gruye7 PM. Free, donations go to Saint Paul Almanac Club.Tracy Oxford

royal blood

Musician HALEY (fka Haley Bonar) and performer and activist Serita Colette have teamed up to curate ROYAL BLOOD, a new dance night that features “powerful wymyn in the dj scene whose reputation to elevate will make you sweat!” at Icehouse. Powerful, indeed: This month includes DJ sets from POLIÇA vocalist Channy Leaneagh and the multi-talented poet Miss Brit (of KFAI’s Wake Up Call, among many other things). It’s just the right remedy for the ice outside. 10 PM. $8. —Tracy Oxford
