If we had a SOTC band it would be a four piece Riot Grrrl band named Mother’s Gunner and it would probably suck, especially to author Jon Fine, but we’d have enough of a schtick and enough friends in the local music to be fairly popular. Anyway, tonight Fine and the one and only Wonkette Ana Marie Cox stop into to Magers & Quinn to promote Fine’s new book Your Band Sucks: What I Saw at Indie Rock’s Failed Revolution (But Can No Longer Hear), a memoir that recalls the burgeoning pre-internet low-level indie rock scene. It’s normally the kind of esoteric East Coast #maximumcaucasity music talk that would make you roll your eyes so hard you pop a blood vessel, but Fine’s book has garnered nothing but praise from the likes of James Murphy, Janet Maslin in the NY Times, and Cox is brilliant, so it’s going to be a can’t miss music event. 7 PM.
