The Two Chairs Telling production is sort of like dueling pianos for storytellers. Two poets/spoken word artists/masters of yarn-spinning go head-to-head on stage to try to out-do the other in their performances. Imagine two witty individuals under pressure trying to top each other’s stories—creativity is bound to happen.
Social satirist and storyteller Megan Hicks is one half of the act tonight. Hicks began her writing and performing career as a singer/songwriter living in Australia. The nationally-recognized writer has since settled in Philadelphia, telling stories everywhere from small venues across the U.S. to international programs on multiple continents. The second half of Two Chairs Telling is raunchy comedic writer Courtney McLean. Founder of the BLB classic Rockstar Storytellers, McLean performs throughout the Twin Cities and is also the leader of the band Courtney McClean & The Dirty Curls. With resumes like that, guaranteed this performance will have you glued to your seat and laughing along. 7 p.m. $8-$12 sliding scale. —RO
