Composer collective 113 has helped present over 60 world premiers in its six year existence, connecting audiences with composers and performers whose works that don’t fit with the canon most music programs support—exactly, as they say, the “that’s not music” sentiment. Now 14 composers and 23 performers have contributed to their fall New Music Festival, an exciting collection of pieces and people bringing their work to Studio Z in St. Paul. Come for music that bypasses the familiar and comfortable: The program includes opera, chamber music, and even a musical adaptation of excerpts from Franz Kafka’s works. Oct 19-21, various times. $5 per show or $20 all-access pass. Free for under 17 and under.Isabelle Wattenberg
