As the weather turns cold, we turn the dial up on music that radiates warmth. This week at the Turf Club features such musicians: the dynamic combination of November resident Actual Wolf and guest group Farewell Milwaukee. Actual Wolf, a trio of talented musicians, shares its tales of travel and love with a country- and Americana-tinged folk sound. The band’s use of descriptive lyrics and innovative rhymes makes for an authentic and enjoyable listening experience.

Farewell Milwaukee‘s brand of blues easily complements Actual Wolf’s folk sound. Although the group’s second album stays true to an honest and straightforward lyrical style, When It Sinks In has a slightly darker message of loss compared to its debut. Nevertheless, Farewell Milwaukee has well-thought-out melodies and strong songwriting on lock. Both bands represent deep Midwestern roots, particularly in Minnesota, so grab your closest friends and celebrate your origins. 9 p.m. $5. —RO
